Hey IPH took another look at getting the record stop controlled via automation. I was able to get a very accurate stop and start playback in FL by creating an automation clip with a sharp cutoff. It worked right at the end of the bar! Usually I run into problems with MIDI timings being off a touch which would in midilooper's case make the recording unusable as it would have started the record loop over again (or would it?).
I have yet to try this in a CPU intensive project so time will tell if the accuracy will stick in that scenario.
Although I got this working, if you get a chance could you consider adding the autostop/play feature for record mode. No rush, when time permits.
Thanks again

no, as long as the loop length is "near" the increment, it should round the length down.Optomadic wrote:Usually I run into problems with MIDI timings being off a touch which would in midilooper's case make the recording unusable as it would have started the record loop over again (or would it?).
yes, i have some other updates pending as well. i'll try to work this in before i upload the next version.Although I got this working, if you get a chance could you consider adding the autostop/play feature for record mode. No rush, when time permits.

here's an update with a bunch of stupid bugs fixed and a new slider for choosing the recording length, from 1 to 32 steps ("step" meaning increments of the Loop Step Size), or "Manual" (old behavior).
it's really just a maximum length, because you can still stop recording manually.
i don't remember what else i changed. anyway, this is it:

(edit: i just fixed one more thing... anyone who downloaded it in the past 20 minutes, please get it again)

At 1st glance everything seems to work.
One thing, the infamous 'stuck note(s)' bug has reared its ugly head again. It seems to hang if you play MIDI after a loop has been recorded and starts playback or if you route MIDI notes to MLPR from a sequencer etc. It occurs in Step record or Manual modes also (I was going to suggest offsetting the stop time in Step mode until I noticed the problem in both
).
Just to make sure it was not my system, I tested the current version beside the previous one and it had no stuck note issue (I purposely tried to make the older one hang also).
The only way around this issue is to either turn off MLPR and turn it back on OR stop the sequencer sever the MIDI in source and restart the sequencer..
I was thinking that perhaps this was the reason you did not add length recording in the 1st place. Oh well, hopefully this is not too hard to fix..
thnx for this amazing plugin piz!
btw for anyone wondering, 1 Step = 1 Bar

i think i know what the problem is. it's not really fixed yet, but see if this one is any better: http://thepiz.org/xt/midiLooper20090329.zipOptomadic wrote:One thing, the infamous 'stuck note(s)' bug has reared its ugly head again.

Yea your right it didn't fix hanging notes.
Ok now the new problems.
At one step if the last note is too close to the end of the step, the last note hangs. If the step size is bigger than 1, the underlying sequence has to exceed the step size or it never stops recording (does not switch to play).
Still testing...

i haven't done anything to deal with that (the host going back in time while midiLooper is recording). eventually (not today) i'll at least make it stop recording if that happens.
try this one for stuck notes: http://thepiz.org/xt/midiLooper20090329.zip
