Actually, they'll sell buns and hotdogs. *cough*
Nah seriously, I don't give a frack. 27bucks for this thing and we only get the leftovers from NAMM. Wonderful.
Digidesign isn't there (didn't find it in the exhibitor list), neither is Audio Impressions (thanks to the DJ's in 2007 and their overdoing with "audio battles", a lot of exhibitors were scared away - thank you!), Line6 also doesn't show up, neither is MUSE Research cause "it's too expensive".
So I guess it's all down to "oh look, now we show the Germans and European Customers what we also showed at last NAMM, which was then covered by KVR! Enjoy!".
I always ask myself why I still go there. Last two years were so dissapointing. But when else to you meetup with colluegues from shuffled half over the globe?

NI's not exhibiting at the Messe.koolkeys wrote:Nope! Not NI! At least not that I know of. But that only means that I haven't heard or gotten any information or press releases about it. So they might be. Would be cool if they did since I have a few of their plugins!K-Slash wrote:Yep, and I think that you were talking about Native Instruments before.
By the way, Softube will show something new in the Amp Room line.

THE f**k?!
You're serious?
*checking*
GOD DAMMIT! WHAT THE f**k?! Now I slowly want my money back!
Native Instruments is a German firm, they're from Berlin and they are NOT at Musikmesse. I wanted to see that MASCHINE thing in action, not at a darn store. And they are not even there!
ew, be honest... Are NI like MUSE Research now? Is it "too expensive" for them to show up? Do we really need to get the piss-take and be the trashbin of NAMM? Frankfurt Berlin is a f**king 540km drive. I have to travel 230km myself (33Euro per direction by train) just to get to Frankfurt, too.
God I just got up again from a 2 hour nap, and this is just pissing me off! Expect a very angry mail coming up, fair management. Shove your 27bucks as trade visitor up your f**king money greedy ass! This price is definitely NOT adjusted anymore for the same shitty support, shitty presentation and even less exhibitors every darn year.
Geez!
What a f**king ripoff. Wish the same would happen to NAMM, then we're talking!

Yes they were to my memory.
Some firms jumped the shark at the very last minute last year, I remember that. But I don't know anymore who these bastards were.
If they were tnot there last year, then what the f**k is this about? Seriously, are we like Nintendo's market now? Not interesting and not the "core market" anymore?
Maybe I should just pay them a direct visit in Berlin and ask for a f**king discount for my paid licenses as "loyal customer" - I'm there again next week anyway.
My list is growing by each day.
Not there are:
- Digidesign
- Line6
- Native Instruments
- Audio Impressions (thanks to the stupid DJs in 2007)
- MUSE Research (too expensive for a "small firm", I wonder why Urs Heckmann can pay for a booth, and his firm is way smaller - so Respect to U-HE)
- etc, etc (including my old music academy, but then again, I couldn't care less)
I'm surprised that IKM is there, and they really didn't have much to present the last years either (except for ARC mayhaps) and this year Amplitube yet again (Fender Edition).
But nah, the fair got a priceraise of 5Euro compared to last year. FOR WHAT? The fair didn't even expand, you get no bonus, I barely know any of the music acts and the halls are crowded with schoolclasses on trade-visitor days!

I think they probably used up their show budget with NAMM. I saw at least 12 people from Berlin there this year.Compyfox wrote:If they were tnot there last year, then what the f**k is this about? Seriously, are we like Nintendo's market now? Not interesting and not the "core market" anymore?
And, in ways can you blame them? Would you rather be in Berlin or California during January? I know one of the reasons I went this year was to get out of the -30 weather here in Minnesota- and I paid for my trip out of my own pocket.
And the fact that the public's allowed in might be part of the reason why some of the vendors you mentioned don't concentrate on the Messe as much. But nah, the fair got a priceraise of 5Euro compared to last year. Frankly, is that my problem? I'd say no. NI is one of the leading lights in the VST world and they're like "omg, no money for Messe"? Yeah right.ew wrote: I think they probably used up their show budget with NAMM. I saw at least 12 people from Berlin there this year.
I wouldn't say that they're as big as Steinberg, but they don't need to hide either. Then again, Steinberg is both at NAMM and Musikmesse, if I remember even at that british one in early summer. I've never seen them pulling such stunts. And no, don't say "that's thanks due to Yamaha" - they were always there, even before they joined with Yamaha.
USA is not the only market where music is being produced, engineered and sold. So yes, I can blame them. But it looks like, the "new stuff" is really only "reserved" for the NAMM audience as of lateew wrote: And, in ways can you blame them? Would you rather be in Berlin or California during January? No, "public people" are not allowed on trade days. It's just that they cheat themselves in. I remember the days where I was asked several times if I'm really a person providing a service in the music business. And frankly, 7 year olds as class-trip to Musikmesse? Maybe if it even is a musicschool - what the heck are they doing in the Studio Hall (5.1) or at the Guitar Hall (4.0 - Fender Booth). I was like "WTF?! Overrun by midgets now?!" last year.ew wrote:And the fact that the public's allowed in might be part of the reason why some of the vendors you mentioned don't concentrate on the Messe as much.
Oh, and you pobably never seen anything from the public days. It's a killer to be there. I just wish Musikmesse would open up another day to the public and be more f**king strict to trade visitors. Additional to that, make better plannings for the halls. They sure scared off a lot of vendors and exhibitors in the last two years with their DJ booths right beside orchestra samples and acoustic pianos.
Way to go, I'd say, way to go. Still don't get why "Native Instrument" isn't there. But I guess I'm right after all: Germany is not the "core user base" anymore.
Best example was Nintendo at the last fairs they pulled:

But why do I even get into a fuss - I'm just a stupid engineering service provider anyway.
*shakes head*
Sad and dissapointing... very dissapointing.

My point is- there aren't any public days at NAMM.
As for weirdness, how about Apple skipping both NAMM and Macworld? Macworld was practically in their back yard

They're not at Musikmesse this year either, but the whole event is overshadowed by Macs as "presentation rigs". So there you have it.
They only presented their iPods and "iMacs" anyway, and only a few "chosen ones" were allowed to even touch the Mac Mini back in the day.
To sum it up: I couldn't care less about Apple.

I was wondering if RME might have something new to show. Fireface800 is getting a little long in the tooth new - I was hoping a MkII might appear. Octamic and Multiface have had a refresh. It would be nice to see the pres from the Micstacy on something further down their range.

Prosoniq will probably show their all-new Windows range of products and announce they'll discontinue their Mac products.
