Do I really need like 20 different compressors, sound designers, special LF enhancers, exciters, gates, EQs and the likes to pull of a production?

Personally I couldn't care less about what you use and need - but you seem to care a lot about what others use and need and it also seems you like a lot to discuss with others what you use and need and what you don't use and need and why you don't use and need it.

Start to really make up your own mind. That means just using (or not using) the stuff without talking about it.

I like Bootsies plugs very very much.I came across them a few days ago and i know for sure that i will be using them a lot.I especially like Density. Finally i have a plug that makes my drumtracks sound the way i want them to.
Im looking forward to slowly explore the use of the others but from what i have heard of them so far while messing with them i will not be disappointed.

You are doing a great job Bootsie.

I just come across this thread while searching for topics on Bootsy. I appreciate it's 4 months old. I haven't read all 6 pages. Just wanted to say that I love the Bootsy pack, especially useful on vocals. I use them on virtually every track I write. There's a separate thread going on at the moment about making vocals sit in the mix as opposed to sounding stuck on; you know what to do? use a Bootsy plug! Carry on developing my friend. :)

+1 Totally agree with yellowfever here. I use them all the time. Some Bootsy plug has made it into the mix of just about all my custom DAW templates since I got them. :hihi: They sound great, do just what I expect... and dammit all they look good! I gotta go do some Dental work on the pony I got for Christmas.

P.S. Just grabbed PlasticPiano!! Now there is a GUI for ya!!

Be careful what you wish for, you might be barking up the wrong tree !
The GUIs are made by another guy, Patrick Barca.
But basically I couldn't agree more, there are many traces of genius to be found in those plugs, both acoustically and visually.
Maybe twins would be in order, one crying in a sophisticated vintage-modern style and the other looking great with a switchable glowing tube ? :hihi:

Well, I reckon the tubes would be glowing and we would be on CNN as a worlds first, because I, Yellowfever, am 100% male  And married with 3 kids and 1 more coming, so I'd have to check with Mrs Yellowfever first anyway !!

I was kinda wondering about that, yellowfever! The humour you and susiwong add to these threads is very refreshing, btw. Never a dull moment when you folks chime in. 8)

 , that's what you get from using a cheap second hand brain, I guess.

For those who cannot hear what the Bootsy plugins does for any sound,
I would just say that you have probably never recorded anything in the
analog world, you have never recorded anything on tape, and you prbobably
have bad monitors that cannot reproduce details. If you dont like them,
delete them, there is no need to tell the world how bad your ears are,
spend time looking for some Q-tips might be a better way!!!

Ha Ha!! I was wondering when someone was going to get painfully honest. I have NEVER blamed a plugin for not being able to get the sound out of it I was looking for! I mean, yeah, some plugins may be limited in features and tweakability, But You can't blame them for composing and rendering something that sounds like crap. Check out youtube... spose it's the camera's fault or the microphone that makes em sound like elephant dung splatting on the floor. Jeez!

Post

Being honest i thought they were quite good but didn't buy into the kvr hype thing that happened with them. The reverb has been the best thing so far i think. People here seem to go crazy for plugins when they see a nice analog style GUI or the word analog mentioned. The sound was fairly good but with the saturator/enhancer things it usually depends what your putting in so some people will instantly think it's amazing because it warmed the sound the right way. You can get similar results with fx chains and im guessing inside the plugins it will do this and merge things a bit like this with eq, slight filtering and saturation to shape the sound in a analog sounding way but i may be wrong.

Don't get me wrong though i like them but just don't think they are totally amazing like some. They are nice for free plugins and i will keep some and use them at them certain times or in a fx chain but they probably won't be go to plugins.

Plugins will never be amazing compared to hardware,,and its not ment to be
either. If someone belivers you can get away with a "Neve" sounding plugin
for 99 dollars,think again!
The good things are that some pleople know that, and spend hours after hours
creating something that sounds good (not good compared to bla bla bla..)
.....just good and they share it with us.I call that very nice.
So if someone makes something that I dont like,I simply delete them.
But there is no doubt ,what so ever that there are free plugins that sounds
as good or even better than comercial ones.
If we could only make as many new songs as we collect plugins,.......
That would be something!
