I can't help you with your problem, but ever since I updated to OS 10.5.6, I've found that everything seems to be using almost twice the CPU power that (I admittedly vaguely remember) they used to. It's driving me crazy, but I've found that I stop having CPU problems when I've already recorded a track and am playing back the instrument. I guess when an instrument is selected, it's in live mode (?) which makes the CPU go crazy (I'm on a Macbook Pro C2D 2.33 ghz, 3 gb RAM, 160 5400 rpm hard drive).

my guess is there's some mistakes in the coding if you're getting performance that different from windows to OSX.

From a Logic AU performance point of view, after updating from 10.4.11 -> Leopard things have never quite seems the same. I just cannot run as many plugs as I used to. Thanks for mentioning it, you can never be 100% certain of these things ...

Can't offer any help about Albino, I only ever use it in Logic.

Peace,
Andy.

I was thinking of re-purchasing itbut wow, you're not kidding. I just tried out the Albino demo on my 8 core mac and Albino *eats* CPU like there's no tomorrow. :o

I know it might not be too helpful but what about rolling back to Tiger? Thats what im still using and will be doing until Apple sort their game out. Kinda reminds me of XP and Vista

If theres a patch you would like me to compare on Albino im more than happy?

I use a Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.66 GHz running both 10.4.11 and 10.5.6 (I'm in the process of testing as I switch over entirely to 10.5.6). I've just tested Albino 3 running in DP 5.13 in both systems and CPU consumption is identical. So it doesn't appear to be a Mac Intel problem per se, more an eight-core problem.

Kind regards.

let me give you an example.. the problem is so bad, that even if you set some patches to ONE voice, a few notes will still overload the cpu.
