Thought that what would happen? Nothing happened because you didn't post "wow, best plugins ever". As for people saying "wow" etc, whatever, who cares if people think they're "the best ever", or even "better than Chuck Norris"?
Quote the slightly sarcastic reply which seems worse than it is without the rest of the post. Make it seem like thats all that was said then someone else reads that and does it again while avoiding the positive things said. Repeat.

Although in the last post i said i liked SM and plugins made with it as i have said before a few times. Pure coding takes much longer for sure and is more work so i agree with you, but the original quote was probably taken for worse than what it was ment to be. Your quote was taken from a slightly sarcastic reply i made because they were telling me how long was spent on it in SM (which is all about time saving and not needing to code all the time) when they probably have no clue unless they were watching it coded/made with a stopwatch. But im sure it did take a lot of time and work to make just like many other free vst and as i said before i liked some of the plugins and they sound good. :)

...snip...

If they take so much time and effort like you say (and you probably wouldn't know yourself unless it was you making it) then why not spend a bit extra and pure code for all the extra benefits it gives thats all i was saying. Sorry for having a different opinion. 8)
It's not an opinion, it's you being blissfully ignorant and too thick to even think about it. Among a lot of people who repeatedly keep coming up with this funny way of thinking, so don't take it all personally.

If you "know" how much effort has been put into them, you'd also "know" or could at least guess how much more work there would be just to please your simple wish about them being all handcoded and on multiple platforms. Would you also like to throw in all the plugin standards and linux while at it? It's just "a bit of extra" work after all.

The point is that it's a lot more than "a bit of extra" and people just refuse to accept the reality that it's not. And there's always the same illogical thinking behind it.

If all else fails, try it yourself and then come back telling us about how easy, simple and fast it was :)

i've been spending much more time involved in code lately and i should point out that for the subject matter - visual programming beats the hell out of typing it.... there are certain areas where being able to go into an ide or text editor and create a tool to add to the bottomless bag of chips is teh handy.
the fact that copying and pasting in a vpe creates entirely new variables, pointers arrays, sub + superstructures and they then exist without needing nameswapping or any editing - and the program will compile/and or KEEP RUNNING... i can't think of many cases in which this would work out in a text based language....
which leads me to another advantage... the program written in a visual language often can be excecuted during development...

but don't get me wrong... c, c++, java.... are so much trippy fun i love it....

jmh it was a slightly sarcastic reply as i said in the post above yours. I probably shouldn't have mentioned coding to start with however. I agree/know coding takes a lot of work and more than SM usually although you can build librarys of resources also and there is SDKs, source code and sites like musicdsp.org for coding but in general it takes much more work and time. I didn't mean to start a huge 50 page argument about SM vs coded plugins though sorry. Like i said before a few times although i like other plugins more some of these are nice effects. :)

i just tried some boostie nastyCS on a drum group and was amazed by the results. in fact i was able to pull sounds out that i cannot get using the ssl e-channel.

I agree, and the high end boost on my Avalon 747 is, IMO, far better than any plug-in I've tried. I use Pultec Pro sometimes for boosting low mids when I need to. My general EQ for cutting is IIEQ Pro but I'm liking the Melda EQ more and more for that---it seems really transparent.

I like Nasty Table Top to smooth and fatten some synth leads. I haven't gotten that much out of the others, though. Tessla has worked ok on some drum tracks.

I've liked some of the room type sounds I've gotten so far out of Epic. It seems to be one of the best free reverbs I've tried.
