Expanded Media Files as a default

Somewhere in the last three versions or so, my copy of Cantab Solo has started to load new media (MIDI) files in a collapsed view that does not show the micro-score information. Previously, the default was to open such a file expanded.

This is not deep tragedy, although it's surprisingly bothersome in my method. I would like not to have to bother expanding MIDI files each time -- especially since the slightest thing now collapses them again. It's not unusual to look up in mid-tune to find it unexpectedly shrunken back so I can't see my cues.

Does anybody know of a way to return this to the previous behavior?

If that can't be done any longer, does our brother Brad think we might get some sort of change in that one day?

Yep, I changed it thinking it would be better that way :)

I can easily make it an option and will do for the next build but I'm worried about the comment that the "slightest thing" makes them collapse again. That shouldn't happen - any idea what's causing that or when it happens?

And I'll bet it is better for most people. We had a talk once where I whined in favor of showing a file's built-in MIDI Markers in that view. Since that was not well-received, I developed a method of putting note-events as marker cues in a separate MIDI track. Probably every other person wants that thing collapsed; you surely did the Utilitarian thing.

Thanks for the thought! The option would be splendid.

I think I exaggerate by saying "slightest thing". Clicking on the MIDI file's line for some adjustment purpose can collapse it again to default; sometimes I don't notice until an awkward moment. I doubt it's inordinately tetchy about collapsing. It just likes to get back to normal.

That player-expansion question is completely answered by Update 2025. Options now exist to open media files expanded or collapsed, whichever we prefer.

Thank you once again for such terrific attention to these small details, Brad!
