Now that is really childish! Instead of whining you should come up with those standards to judge excellency in music, which existence you obviously are so sure of. Then we at least can have a debate.Lunatique wrote:Fine, everything's valid, everything's equally important and of the same value and merit and nothing, no one, can be judged by any standard of excellence in any way shape or form, unless the person expressing a personal opinion wants to be called a fascist. It's forbidden for you to be better than me in any endeavor because that's not allowed, and I'm forbidden to be any worse than you at any particular endeavor because it'll break this utopia we live in. We can all claim to be whatever we say we are, since there are no standards to speak of. There is no excellence to strive for. Anything we pull out of our asses will automatically be brilliant. The world is a utopia. Rejoice.

No, it's simply me waving a white flag because I'm tired of being the bad guy around here. From now on I'll keep my personal standards to myself only. My preferences and standards should not be spoken or written because it obviously upsets people--the idea that people actually have preferences and a personal set of standards of what makes some music better than others. I'll hold myself to those standards and no one else. It's really as simple as that. If I don't like a piece of music I'll simply say it's just not my cup of tea--I won't explain why because that'll be bringing up those personal standards again--offensive to others and spoils the party for everyone.Hskovlund wrote:Now that is really childish! In the end, we should all just do what makes us happy, regardless of what others say. I think we can't truly be happy when we don't like the music we make, even if others like it. I know that's how I am--if I think a track of mine is not living up to my standards, I won't be happy even if others seem to like it.

Oh..so we are talking about PERSONAL standards? Well, in that case you should have told us right away because I could have sworn that you suggested that there were UNIVERSAL standards and I am quite sure others came to this interpretation as well and that it was this misunderstanding that made people upset. Well, I have personal standards too and I am sure all others have their own even though they are not neccesarily compatible with mine. No big deal. Let us close the case peacefully then.Lunatique wrote:From now on I'll keep my personal standards to myself only. nope, since Europe was basically a rip off of Spinal Tap, their hit song was a take on that.serve wrote:What?
