Interesting development...

Never used Giga myself, but maybe this'll be good news for a few folk.

I own GigaPulse vst, which was a fine product, and also picked up GigaStudio 3 during a liquidation (before it was going under), and it was by all accounts the worst piece of software I've ever used.

At any rate, I also own a few Garritan products, so maybe some of us will have new upgrade paths, or at least get some patches.

An April 1st joke or is this serious?

i thought garritan had their own own sample player called Aria - so surely buying another would be a little wierd
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Could be indeed, and makes more sense really. Guess we would likely find out before the day is through.

I can see how it could be legit. Gary Garritan has been good at placing himself in the market. This could be be a good business decision if it is handled correctly. But I've got no idea as to what is "correct."

I'd say its a joke just from reading Gary's reply. Pretty good to get KVR involved as well.

well if it's an april fool it's not a very clever or funny one. :(

No, it's actually real... Garritan bought Gigastudio... I hope that this does fare well for Gigastudio... The one thing about Garritan, their business is samples and sample playback software... It's not like Tascam where they bulk of their business is hardware and recorders... And Garritan has been successful in various aspects of his sample business and he's good at partnering with others... With any luck, he'll bring onboard the people that really know Giga well and develop it further... Giga does have it's bugs, but when it runs well, it's a great piece of software...

I can never remember which is Gary Garrigus and which is Scott Garritan.

One is one and the other is the other.

Okay, if you're so smart, can you tell "God Bless the Weasel" from "Pop Goes the Queen"?

Well... no, not really.
