I'll bet Andy will get you sorted out in a few days once he's back from Musikmesse.ATS wrote:darn I didn'ttodd_r wrote:yupATS wrote:I went to demo the new version but it says my trial expired already. Did we get another 14 days with the new release?

Got mine now Andy, sounds verrrrrry good. Doing side x side with UAD 4k, looks like I bought my 4k too soon. Keep up the amazing work!andy_cytomic wrote:The last few emails with the new version have only just gone out now. Compared mine 9 and 10 version back to back, and 10 sounds much better, much more punchy and seems like it lets more thump thru.
However, I wonder if I ever want to use both, maybe a toggle between algorithms possible?

the new algorithms?
any info a simpleton user could make use of?
dose it now sound different?
cant test intill later & i'm interested in the feedback of some of the compressor guru's in here

I renamed my old one TheGlue_9, and both show up in my VST folder so I could load them both and toggle.meloco_go wrote:Compared mine 9 and 10 version back to back, and 10 sounds much better, much more punchy and seems like it lets more thump thru.

Hi Andrew!
You really did a tremendous job on the 1.0.10 version
"The glue" does now really sound just like the UAD 4K while it still offers much more soundshaping possibilities which make it more versatile. All this in a native and non-dongled version for 99$ really makes it a no-brainer

Did he really change the algorithms between .09 and 10? Don't think so... In any case it sounds as fabulous as ever.

Hello Andrew , you did one hell of a job the 1.0.10 its awesome, sounds exactly like the uad now and the sidechain works in cubase 5 windows xp.
On top of that we get all the extra functionality, thank you very much and i am glad that i bought it.

Yes your absolutely right. I didn't notice till I read your response.Franzel wrote:Ok, checked out sidechaining here in Cubase 4.5.2 with the usual quadro-group workaround. Now the needle is moving and I can hear the sidechain doing its duty, but I hear both the compressed track and the key-in signal at the output.
On closing Cubase crashes.
I do hear the key-in signal too. At the moment I did not have a crash on closing, with V1.09 I did.
And yes I received v1.0.10.

I can confirm the crash on exit has been reported by a few people. I just spoke with someone from Steinberg today at Musikmesse and I'm having a meeting with them tomorrow about being accepted into their developer programme. This will mean I get all versions, including old ones, of Steinberg products to make sure I can debug all these issues. Currently I don't have copies to debug with. Thanks all the Cubase users for being patient. The bugs shouldn't take long to fix once I can test with the correct versions of the host.

RE: Algorithm changes
I checked through the SSL 4K schematics and I have to say I like them way better than the Gyraf ones. They were clearer and made more sense. Here are the full list of changes:
1) Removed the 12k low shelving filter pre sidechain input, perhaps the Gyraf guys messed up here trying to emulate the Dbx chip since it's nowhere to be seen on the 4K schematics. This would have been causing to extra sensitivity to lower frequencies which is not ideal.
2) Removed one of the two one pole low pass filters on the main amp control voltage signal as the 4K didn't have it.
3) Updated the resistor values in the ratio shaper to the correct values, the Gyraf ones were hard to read
4) Increased the number of maximum iterations of the numerical circuit solving algorithm for greater accuracy. This does not effect short attack times, but for longer ones it makes an audible difference to the quality of the algorithm.
All up I hope you would agree that the changes are all for the better, but they should not be major enough to alter any presets that people have done.
All the best,
Andrew Simper

Thanks to everyone that has been helping out with their comments about The Glue and testing it out and generally putting up with a few bugs. With your help I've been able to improve the plugin and I hope now to really be able to take on the big boys
Sorry to my customers that had to wait a little for v1.0.10. I uploaded the Trial version while the full version builds were still being uploaded since I wasn't sure I would easily be able to get internet access and some spare time to do it once at Messe. I have a firm commitment to my customers to provide them with new versions and fixes first as you guys have supported me with your purchase. Some people were feeling time pressure because of a UAD sale, so I needed to get them a new Trial version asap.

Honestly, thanx for reworking "the glue" so much.
I REALLY REALLY appreciate that.
And i am sure that everybody else is as well, as it turns out to be a better sounding "glue".
