Just one point I would make about the gui - if you don't like it have a good read of the manual before you judge. A lot of thought has gone into the interface design and a lot of the design decisions become clearer if you read the manual (which is very good btw)

Post

Bottom line is this is a nice reverb but overpriced for what it is.

If the price was in the $149.00 - $199.00 range, (and stayed there) I think this would be more reasonable.

There is a point at which people will have to weigh more heavily what it is they would have to give up in order to purchase a product.
Especially at this point in time, and as time goes on the newness will fade and sales will decline even more.

(BTW, I happen to think AAR has a simple and somewhat elegant interface)

(Aether does remind me a little of a trippy Neon lit street in Miami at night)

Maybe that is the desired effect :)

Not to say that it isn't well thought out and all

(This is all my personal opinion, of course)

But to each his own, reverb!

1. I don't mind the interface.
2. I think it's a really decent reverb that fills a niche I don't already have filled.
3. I Just can't cough up $349 right now, no matter how much I like it.
4. I would not pass up the opportunity to purchase at a price under $200

Regardless of the interface it does seem the concept was well thought out and realised. And I don't think it's my place to say $349 is too much. I will say that the retail price on this plug keeps it from being an impulse buy for me right now and probably the rest of this year. Needless to say, I voted yes.

Bump.

Personally, and this is just me. I am not even going to demo this unless the group buy takes it down to right close to $100 and $149 is not close. But like I said this is just me. If you bought it at more that is being selfish being angry that others may get it cheaper. It was worth for you to pay what you paid or you wouldn't of paid it. Now you are mad because other people might not have to pay as much? It makes no sense. To me anyhow.

So you want the plugin on cheap is being less selfish than those early buyers who paid much more? It doesn't make sense either. By this reasoning, people who are willing to pay for dongled plugins are more selfish than those who are not willing to pay extra money for dongle. Good call. Funny that people who are not even bother to demo the plugins start tagging others as selfish beings. But that's just me.

Plus, I am not against GB. I am against GB at bad timing, especially the ones right after the end of introductory offers. In my previous post I said it enough. I have no problem with potential users asking for GB. I will however have problem with developers starting reckless GB without considering their existing customers. As for the voting, I haven't placed mine because the two options are too dichotomy.

it has nothing to do with demoing or not demoing. I mean I bought the Waves gold bundle and now they are offering a $600 plugin suite for free when you purchase it. Do I wish those buying it now wouldn't get that? Heck no. http://waves.com/Content.aspx?id=351&HPMF

How does selling something cheaper than you paid for it hurt anyone? :?

If anyone was curious about this:

Yes.

The skin definition file is an XML(like) text file. And the graphics are all PNGs. It should be fairly clear to anyone with Skin-ing experience.

We will also offer a more minimal 2D skin. This will be the same size as the smaller size skin, and retain the same general layout, but will be done in 2D for a more minimal look. Maybe that would make some more people happy? This will come in the timeframe of the 1.1 update which will also bring some other cool features.

Anyone else interested in a possible group buy?

70 people from KVR alone is not that bad... Every Group Buy I ever participated in was advertised in many different forums, and I'm sure with right incentive (meaning, depending on the final GB discounted price), everyone here who participated would definitely spread the word around. I think very easily this would get well over a 100 participants.

faab wrote:$50 is an insult to the makers of this plugin, 100 to 149 would be a fair price in a groupbuy i think. Than i would definately be interested in this plugin.
Really? Why do you think that? There are plenty of amazingly capable plug ins that live in that price point. Look at Audio Damage. Tone2. U-he's selling a whole suite of effects including a very capable ambience/reverb processor for $150. I paid $100 because I jumped in early. So that's where my head is. I got 8 (soon to be 10 I think) very good sounding effect plug ins for $100, but let's say $150 because that's the current price. Like it or not, Aether is competing with this type of pricing. They could go this route and become a very popular high quality reverb, or they could stay pricey and become a boutique VST that professionals and wealthy people use. All I know is that if the price dips under $100 I'd give it a look, but as it is I'll pass. It's just not that crucial to me.

+1
If the price was less than $100 I would be inrerested, otherwise I'll pass, and keep using what I have.

@ zerocrossing
my personal opinion about the audio damage reverb is that it's not good, the tone 2 warmverb is good but defo not as transparent as aether can be.
U-HE stuff rocks i have the bundle also but the reverb is not as tweakable as aether.

$ 50 imho is an insult because the price of the plugin is 249 $ at the moment, let me make clear that i would never buy it at that price and cerainly not at 349 $.

I think 100 to 149 is a fair pricepoint given the quality of the plugin.

If the price was lowered to $100-$149, I'd buy it today without any regrets. 8)

The concensus seems to be that this is not $150 -250 more plugg then the existing reigning top KVR favorite Reverbs.
Of course, the proprietors can put a link to an online music store showing a page full boutique stuff that goes as much as $1k or more,http://www.sweetwater.com/c705--Plug_In ... gh2low/all

But a ford dealer showing us Aston Martin pricing does'nt mean I'm paying him $200k for a mustang !!!!!

So many affordable pluggs , so little time ((er..cash! ))
