Progress bar at startup and session load

Hi Brad,
i just played around only a few hours with cantabile.I build a session file, that contains all plugins I'm using during a live performance.
I understand, that loading this file take some time. Is it possible to display a progress bar while loading a startup session. At this time cantabile gets minimized to systemtray while loading the startup session.

Hi.

See "options" - "sessionlist" - "use delayed ...." and try to uncheck it. This usually makes sessions load faster because the popups at the start and end of a session change introduce a delay, giving a chance to "browse"...

I think Bono actually means a progress bar displayed while loading a large session - not necessarily speeding up session switching between small sessions.

I agree, a progress bar would be nice and you'd think it would be easy to add but the session loading code is quite complex and I'm loathed to touch it at this late stage.

Hi Brad.

Well, yes I agree, I just thought some users don't know about the different optione of "delayed" and "instant"...

I can imagine that it is hard to predict the time a session load may take... many such predictions are critical, just see the Windows prediction how long a file copy may last... :D So such a prediction in a progress bar would usually still turn out to something odd.

BTW... I've considered some stuff too in my app to predict or guess how long a session load may take. That's especially difficult with random session changes and the optimized session load feature. In this context I also came up with the idea to possibly implement a stress test tool in my app, means automatiocally and randomly loading sessions from a session list, analyzing load times. Of course this might be useful as a stability test procedure too.

Ok, it's just an idea right now - possibly you have considered some stress test procedure yourself too?

Brad,
looks good, thats what we need.
No need to build in a progress bar.
