My belief is that Daniel wants us to pay the most attention to the spirit of the agreement.

He asks us to ask ourselves "is what I am doing right?" Each one thinks about it, comes to a decision, sleeps on it and revisits the decision as necessary and then acts on it. If you can honorably live with yourself after acting on your decision, then fine, and if you can not, then stop doing it. In the end, the only one who will police you is yourself. It is difficult for someone else to make this decision for you since it involves a judgment of creativity. You are the best judge of whether what you did is creative or not. Think it over with your mind and your heart.

Each one will take their own decision and, to me, Daniel simply asks that you give it careful consideration, be true to yourself and act consequentially.

Just read Daniel's revised EULA, guess it's cleared up now.
Let me use this opportunity to thank Daniel again for giving us those fine tools, much appreciated, especially since they sure are in the top league, commercial or free.
Cheers,

PS. sorry for the way off-topic
I don't share all of your thoughts, but surely some it seems, but concerning freeware this is a great post! (The example with the poor man seems to me only half true - yes it is true, but nobody should forget how the man got poor and others rich. I am astonished to see how many people in our western world really "believe" in capitalism, even now, and sometimes it is not much different to obscure other beliefs... If your example-man would be someone suffering from the fact ALL western countries have millions of unemployed or extremely bad paid people (you work, but you cannot live from your work I mean, there are millions like that...) - he could of course be in a extremely bad position, and could of course ask - not for freeware for his music :hihi: - but for money from the super-rich woman or man...(which leads to the basic income for all, which in 30 years will be a reality - paid by a consume tax from ALL, so all do something for it, and all benefit from the fact that automisation is a good thing, but takes the work away for millions.)
I think you missed my point a bit.. In my "philosophy" it's not about what-if's, or who-did-what nor who-got-it-bad-now, it's all about what I, as a person, have the right to bitch about. A sense of perspective. :)

That is, as soon as I open my mouth and criticize anything, I need to first consider my own attitudes and if I've done what I preach/bitch about, regardless of my current situation. Having it rough is not an excuse, ever (which of course renders my idea completely utopic and hence impossible to follow as we are emotional beings after all, but still.. )

I do agree with you that we SHOULD consider everybody's life situation and have huge tolerance towards each other and NOT put down other people for personal benefits but again, this has nothing to do with a capital/monetary system in the first place, at least in my opinion, it simply has to do with how we behave in such a system. Don't blame the tools/rules comes to mind. A capitalist system does NOT forbid us from being generous and does NOT tell us to always be ruthless self-centered egoists that destroy lives. Neither does a communist/socialist system automatically render us all sheep and lazy but I do think that at the current socio economic maturity of us humans, it is a more troublesome way to go than a reward/feedback (you get "feedback" for your work) based system.

Cheers!

it's not the system capialism itself that hurts people, it's poor human imperfection and his unability to get in controling the power he has ... that's what makes capitalism fail ... charles darwin once said:
"freedom is a power humans should never own cos they won't be able to control it due to the fact that they're simply human"
humans in general lack of beeing concious about the fact that they must generate a certain ammount of responsability on everything they do ... that's the coffin nail for capitalism, not capitalism itself ...
So wouldn't that line of reasoning work for any socio-economic system? Like, "it's not communism, it's human lack-of-consciousness-about-responsibility"? Sorry: don't buy it (no pun intended). :D
Yes, it absolutely DOES work for ANY system. That was actually my whole point as well and it seems brok has the same ideas. :)

Any system is fallible to human emotions/actions. There is not and never will be any perfect social structure or "system" or "ism". Any system can and will be abused, always, forever and ever and ever on some level. Hopefully in the future when we finally abolish poverty, the abuse will be minimal and not ruin lives.

Cheers!

Yeah, I totally agree with that. Not sure if that was Brok's real point, but I totally concur. :D

Ohh Klemperer!

indeed - if one follows through the whole discussion of thoughts in this direction it will indeed be the basic income for all. But in 30 years? I think maybe in 100 Years.

Sorry - this is very Off-topic - but it refers to the discussion "freeware spirit versus remorseless commercialization".
