Haha, funny you should say that… I'm listening to Consuming Impulse right now, due to Killvehicle talking about the new Pestilence earlier today!

As I said elsewhere, the new Pestilence is good, but it just doesn't feel like Pestilence to me. Too polished and modern to do justice to their old stuff (like Consuming Impulse), and too generic to due justice to their later stuff (like Testimony of the Ancients). It's still a good album, and certainly better than a lot of what passes for DM now, though. Plus, it's nice that one of the most talented metal bassists around is back to doing this instead of that gawdawful Latin pop band he's in.

That said, in 2005 Pentacle put out a far better "new Pestilence album" than Pestilence just did. Under The Black Cross is everything the new Pestilence album should have been.

Must check that that one out Voidoid as it slipped under my nose :-O ! Nice one for the heads up man

Az're-ul i highly recommend 'RWAKE' and also i have been loving the most recent Pyschroptic record (OB)Servant. Actually i like all of Pysychroptic's stuff but this one is a new chapter as the vocalist left and the new vocalist is much different from the Pyschroptic of old. It took me a while to adjust but its still class tech and immense. Anything by RWAKE is worth lending your ear to if the Sludgey/Doom type stuff has been working for you lately. Here is a great place to start
Also 'Mourning Beloveth' are quality if you want to err over to the doomy side of sloth \m/

I hear you big time on that one. I still buy CD's via mailorder and it is not a cheap love at all! Trying to keep up with each and every record is bloody impossible and it started to drive me nuts until i gave up and now i just buy what i can. So whilst not every back catalogue is owned i still have a fairly wide range. Enough to keep me busy anyway thats for sure. Then their is youtube and digital radio which just about satisfys my cravings lol. I agree Voidoid is a legend for info on heavy music and luckily their seem to be a few of us with similiar tastes knocking around this thread which is always a good thing. Vurt is dark horse also with a monster range of stuff, Vespers too has an eclectic but still very dark taste also. This is just from some of the posts i remember from everyone over the months. So it dont get boring on this thread that is for sure. If i get bored then i check in here and randomly pick a post by someone and have a search on boobtube for it and i have come accross some good stuff that i would not have done without this thread

It may be a close run thing ... I'm actually very grateful because I always like to discover something new.

The way I see it is music is my one major vice and I still probably spend less per month than someone who smokes 20 a day and goes out drinking every Friday & Saturday. Mind you I've had to switch to more downloads recently cuz of storage problems...
