Create a track using only OATMEAL for all the sounds, including percussion!
Download OATMEAL here if you dont have it already. patches also available from this page. http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2237.html
******************** RULES ****************************
* The track can be made in any host.
* There is no limit to the number of FX used provided the are freeware, and freely available, and that they do not introduce additional sound sources. Please ask if you are uncertain about these restrictions.
..NOTE .. this also applies to your chosen hosts native effects unless they can be obtained for free and used within other hosts as easily as a generic Vst.
* Samples may be used provided they have been created by OATMEAL, and not coloured/manipulated, before or after the sample has been rendered, by any effect/device/process that is not freeware which is accesible and usable by all participants. As above, this applies to features which may be native to your chosen host.
* There is no track length limit.
*** Finished tracks, in mp3 format, should be uploaded here ...
http://onesynthcomp.4shared.com/
* Please post in this thread when you upload a track, that way I can prevent abuse of this public folder. Anything uploaded without an accompanying post here will be deleted.
For the sake of clarity, name your track in the following format ...
Title of Track - Artist Name
* Before you do that though, create a notepad/text file and describe briefly what you have used ( host, how many instances of OATMEAL, how many samples of OATMEAL sounds , which fx, how many instances.. etc. )
....... keep it short though, that way it can be read in preview mode without the need to be downloaded.
Save the notepad/text file as the title of your track, that way it will sit above or below the track itself when you upload it, and not get mixed up with any others.
******** CLOSING DATE for submissions is 6th May 2009 *********
A poll will be opened as soon as is practicable after this deadline, and voting will be open to all kvr members for a period of 7 days.
NOTE..... Only tracks uploaded to the hosting folder allocated for this comp, before the closing date, accompanied by said info text file, will appear on the poll. Please do not post seperate, external links to tracks you wish to be included in the comp.
And the prize? I'm still working on it! .... Any donation from fellow artists/developers would be very welcome!
I have tried to contact the developer of Oatmeal to discuss ideas for a prize, but to no avail.
.. But hey, something might turn up.
**** Good luck with those tracks! ****

I'm in! total oatmeal addict!
might get me motivated to finally finish a tune .
btw getting to listen to previous competion entries was a bit awkward (especially when navigating around 4share for the first time) .. i think a page with a simple flash player is better suited for when the voting takes place. maybe a blog ..

Great stuff guys, nice to know were up and running for real!
A bit of news for you all.
rob_lee has been in touch and has offered to donate a soundbank of 192 sounds, which was released lately for Sylenth, as a prize for this comp.
I have privately offered my thanks to rob_lee for his generous donation, but once again, publicly, big thanks for the donation!
( Oh, and anyone taking part in this comp who didnt participate in the last one will be offered a copy of Haku2 )
Olicana, I would be interested to know more about the kind of problems you have encountered in accessing the tracks. I am not about to disagree about there being a better way to post up tracks, but a web page with a flash player is not something I'm familiar with setting up/managing.
With a bit more detail re. the difficulties you encountered, I may be able to sort it out .. I certainly dont want the competition to be inaccessible to anyone, so if a solution can be found without shaking things up too much, then I'm all for finding it.
I have stated on the previous thread that the rules of this comp, once posted would be final ... and I'll be sticking with that but any feedback or help you can offer will certainly be taken on board when setting up the next comp.

sorry maybe i wasn't clear. nothing to do with rules or how to submit tracks. 4shared is great and very convenient to upload our entries to.tattiemannie wrote: Olicana, I would be interested to know more about the kind of problems you have encountered in accessing the tracks. a page with a flash player would only be needed once the deadline is over for people who will just want to listen and vote.... somewhere they just press "play" and can see all entries in a clean and user friendly interface.
anyway we'll se how many entries there'll be...if it's not too many then even somethin like a Virb page will do(it allows 10 mp3 i think)..

Wow! Just put down a few loops and beats ... what an amazing synth?? .... I'm gonna be a martyr here, that synth has so much stuff on it, that I'm beginning to regret writing that 'no limit to number of fx' rule.
.... So in the interests of having some kinda limit to overcome, I'm gonna endeavour to use only mda effects .... unless anyone tells me they are not universally useable??
You guys do what you like ( within the rules of course, and that shouldn't be a prob with a synth packed with fx
) ... But I gonna get my chastity belt on!!

Please bear with us, your input will be useful in identifying where we can find a level playing field in future comps!

If you read all five pages from the link above, it will be apparent that I wanted it to be easier to included Mac users, and that there will be consideration for mac users in future comps .... but not being a Mac user myself, I need a lot more help from mac users in order to know whats possible.OK guys, I'm reading back over this thread and compiling a set of rules for the next comp.
I can tell you now
... it will be an Oatmeal only comp.
... closing date will be 6th May.
... There will be no designated mac-equivalent synth competing alongside, as I dont see sufficient volume of input from Mac users to warrant such accomodation .... But if you can use oatmeal, via bootcamp or whatever, then welcome to the comp!

... and while we are still on the subject of future comps .... rob_lee has contacted me and has pledged support for future comps in addition to his Sylenth1 soundbank.
Big thanks again to rob. His contribution and support adds value to this ongoing 'OneSynthChallenge' series. ( Interesting how that abbreviates to OSC! ... hey kaiyoti, maybe were all OSCists! ... or was that what you meant in the first place which I didnt get at the time, and now claiming the concept as my own
)
If you wish to check out 192 patches for Sylenth 1, mp3 demos of all sounds in the bank can be found at rob_lee's thread in the Lennar Digital Forum at KVR.
... This one I think??

...yeah, thats the link! .... Wow, amazing sounds! I need sylenth! I need money to buy sylenth! ..... curse you rob_lee! ... just when I thought I needed nothing but love and a bit of occasional nurturing, positive attention, I find myself with an itch to scratch in a hitherto hidden, unsensed place I thought it impossible to feel anything .. let alone an itch worthy of the requirement to aquire some relief via my equally pained, cramped, an hopelessly exhausted cash muscles!
