Soooo, back on topic...
I had a great meeting with someone from Steinberg today at Messe, and I'm all set to join their third party developer team. It will take a little while to be posted out the developer kit, but after I get it I'll be able to fix the needle update and crashing bugs in Cubase.
I also met up with some people from Presonus/Kristallabs, and their new daw Studio One looks great, non bloated and elegant, so I've organized to do an nfr swap to make sure The Glue works with that as well since it supports external sidechaining really easily.
I'm meeting up with Motu tomorrow and hopefully all will go well their too to organize a developer copy of dp5/6.
All up it's been a great Messe so far, I am really looking forward to getting the Rtas version done as well, and to have all version shipping (well downloading) without any known issues in all major hosts.

9 pages and counting on that one in just a few days. Looks nice.andy_cytomic wrote:I also met up with some people from Presonus/Kristallabs, and their new daw Studio One looks great, non bloated and elegant, so I've organized to do an nfr swap to make sure The Glue works with that as well since it supports external sidechaining really easily.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Hmm... Just discovered that the glue 1.0.10 doesn't work as the bugfixes described:
- Sidechain issue
- Doesn't work on Mono Signals
i'm using Cubase 4 (Ver.4.5.xxx last update before 5)

This is the first report of an external sidechain issue with Cubase. There is no mono version of The Glue at this stage. I would appreciate if you could post the minimal of details needed to report the external sidechain issue which are outlined here: http://www.cytomic.com/Beta/The_Glue_Beta_Info.htmljjsr wrote:Hmm... Hey Franzel, sorry if I missed your post. Do you have an issue with v1.0.10 of The Glue with external sidechaining in Cubase 4.5 or 5 on a particular platform? I've just checked my email in box for a bug report but couldn't find one from you.Franzel wrote:andy_cytomic wrote:This is the first report of an external sidechain issue with Cubase.jjsr wrote:Hmm... Yep, sure. My post is the last on page 112 and it was confirmed by Morris on page 113 about halfway down the page. The next post is a reply from you, that's why I was puzzled.

Now about this bleed of the external sidechain signal in Cubase. How are you doing your external sidechain setup? If you are using a quadro bus with two sub buses then send the a channel to the second stereo pair you will hear that signal summed to the output of the group bus, this is standard for Cubase. So as far as I can tell there is no bug in The Glue regarding bleed.Franzel wrote:Yep, sure. My post is the last on page 112 and it was confirmed by Morris on page 113 about halfway down the page. Next up, there is a crash on exit which is listed in the known issues:
Known Issues in v1.0.10
* Live 7: Funny problems with needle update and crashing with Mac 2 x Quadcore
* Cubase v4/5: enter key stolen by plugin, needle freezes sometimes, crash on exit
* Logic v5.5: (bug in Logic) plugin will not load as this version of Logic doesn not support 4 input vst plugins
But jjsr said the following
And I was merely saying that external sidechaining does work, and there is no mono version, all of which is described accurately on the Beta Info Page. If there is anything wrong here I am happy to update the Beta Info Page, but from what I can tell all is in order.jjsr wrote: Hmm... No Andy, what you describe is not standard Cubase behaviour. If I insert Fabfilter's Pro C or Voxengo's Crunchessor into a quadro group the signal feeding the external sidechain is not heard at the output.

Can you please outline the exact steps of how to reproduce what you are hearing? Either here or support atsign cytomic dotsign com please. Routing a signal to the quadro bus second stereo pair with no plugins inserted gets mixed down to the stereo output in Cubase as I understand it, but please let me know what is the expected behaviour so I can test it when I get my copy of Cubase from Steinberg.Franzel wrote:No Andy, what you describe is not standard Cubase behaviour. Just so you know The Glue declares 4 ins (2 x stereo) and 2 outs (1 x stereo). I never mix the external sidechain signal to my stereo outputs, so if you are hearing the external sidechain signal (the second stereo signal) then it will have to be the host doing it. I am no Cubase expert, but the whole Quadro bus thing really seems a very odd way to do things. It would be much easier if Cubase allowed you to send directly to the second stereo input of The Glue like Live / Logic / Pro Tools / Studio One / Plogue / Energy XT / etc etc etc does.

+1 @ Franzel
This is the case. My experiences with (other) Sidechain-plugs:
Set up a Quadro-Bus, routing the <to processing> signal to the front pair and the trigger signal to the rear pair. That's all. So it should work. e.g. in fabfilters Pro-C (SC Plugin Version) this works fine. You don't hear the trigger signal except you go to the expert page of their plug and toggle the 'Audition'-Button.
So in conclusion: in a Sidechain-capable Plugin the Trigger Signal isn't mixed with the <to prcessing> signal.
I don't know how Sidechaining is handled in other Sequencers...

Hey guys i've been following this for a while now and am a very happy user of the glue. Here is a link to the glue being used on the master bus on some hardcore (the punk variety) just incase anyone wanted to hear an example for that type of music.www.myspace.com/banditstudios (http://www.myspace.com/banditstudios)
