my uneducated guess would be that it has not much to do with ratio/static transfer curve.brok landers wrote:edited thatone for you ...djanthonyw wrote:Studio guy 1: "What does that range knob thingy do?"djsubject wrote:the glue is 100% the best native plugin comp i have ever used!

Hired Sizzla for your track, ey?
Sorry for OT, nice tune.
(Although I have to say -9dB RMS showing here I find a bit "over the top" even for Dancehall stuff...)

yes i'm far from the best engineer & quite a novice when it comes to understanding Compressors
playing it back to other mix's i have done it is loud! my guess is that i'm using my ears to hear when its to squashed & using that as my gage on how much i can gain it
but then again a do like loud stuff "dre 2001" for example, that CD was loud as kuff!
i love what i can make the glue do to drums if you push the kick way above the mix
i programmed this drum loop
http://djsubject.googlepages.com/drum.mp3
& the glue made it sound like this?
http://djsubject.googlepages.com/drumcomped.mp3
i don't know your personal taste, but i love it
of course i'm over compressing, but do i care?
nope

nopei'm 34 today & can still hear 19000Hz (17000Hz at low volume) down to 10Hz so i'm quite pleased as i thought the years of raveing may have done more damage

Regarding loudness, I analyzed some Dancehall stuff and usually found it to be about -12 / - 11 dB RMS, so yes, I'd say your track IS loud...
But I'd suggest maybe going back to topic as I don't want to hijack this thread

Last time I checked a few years ago my hearing was/is excellent, but I wouldn't be surprised if within 10 or so years we will have the technology to accurately repair damaged hearing 99.8%.

Birds can regrow damaged cochleal hairs, but we mammals grow them once during embryonic development and never again. Meanwhile, my pet parrot sits on my shoulder and squeaks happily in my ears...djanthonyw wrote:Last time I checked a few years ago my hearing was/is excellent, but I wouldn't be surprised if within 10 or so years we will have the technology to accurately repair damaged hearing 99.8%.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Thanks for the update to V1.011. You do not hear de keysignal in sidechain mode. I did some short tests and at the moment The Glue did not crash on exit of Cubase 5.
Thank you Andrew!!!!
