Hi Os,

I've been beta testing Live 8 and I don't like its looper as much as Augustus. The scripting support and the flexibility when changing loop lengths imho make Augustus the superior product. So I'm back with Augustus and lately, I have been exploring the fx loops. But I'm running into problems. I use the following setup:

When I made the screenshot I could play into Augustus and it would record but the recorded stuff would be deleted again instead of being played. Nothing ever got to the Live insert track.

When I disabled the fx loop everything would immediately work. This happened with both fx loops.

I could swear that at times it has worked just as it should but I can't remember what I did differently then. Seems like changing the fx loop screwed it up (I've changed them several times). But I don't know exactly. It's hard to notice exactly what you're doing when everything is working.

Too bad that it seems impossible to control the fx loop enable functions via midi. So, at the moment I can't use the fx loops although I really really want to.

Greets,
Axl

PS: I'm using the AU version with a custom script.

A couple of things off the top of my head
- you seem to have Record Offset enabled. No idea without checking whether that works OK with fx loops. Maybe try it without?
- is your tape in reverse in that screenshot? Again, probably works but might be worth turning it off to just check.

Why do you say it's impossible to control the fx loop enables via MIDI? They're just parameters, same as everything else.

Here's what I've done:

I disabled record offset and reloaded the Liveset - no change.

I disabled reverse and reloaded - no change.

I also disabled saturate, digital mode and fix delay with no results.

If I record something and then quickly disable the fx loop and enable it again everything works and I can also record new layers.

Somehow this feels like a bug :?

I haven't found any parameters called fx loop either in the manual or in the midi.lua script.

I'll have to try this myself.

For the MIDI thing, use

getParameterID( "Pre-Write FX Loop Enable" )
etc.

As for all parameters, the name you use is the one that is displayed in the top right of the GUI when you move the mouse over a control.

Just tried a pre-sat fx loop in Live 7.0.14 and 8.0.1 (with Augustus 2.0.3), with settings as close to yours as I can (given what I can see in the screenshot).

All seems to work fine.

Do you want to send me your Live set so I can examine exactly what's going on?

Post

Thanks for sending the Live set. I've now been able to reproduce the problem you describe. Definitely a bug. Thanks for reporting it!

Just released v2.0.4 to fix this bug.
