Shhh. Read this...
It is my expectation that you cannot list a particular SONAR FEATURE which would honestly arise again and again to stand out in a stadium the size of a milk carton where you could easily say, "Yes I hit a homerun with this particular listed Sonar feature".
See expectations can be a motherf**ker sometimes. I guess that's why I put up with Sonar for so many years while expecting it to change. While you still can't list Sonar features or show me a marketing ad that positions it to stand out from the rest you also continue to make an ass of yourself. See it doesn't matter...who could run up in this thread and defend you. Nor does it matter what YOU CLAIM to expect...
I expect you to respond to ANYTHING other than what this thread initially questions. See I thought that Nuendo...Pro Tools...maybe even Digital Performer would have been even more obvious examples judging by the fact that the Nuendo has been positioned as a lower cost post production alternative to Pro Tools and DP has long been considered the go to sequencer for scoring to video/film. This is how Steinberg and Motu chose to BRAND those DAWS. This is how they separated themselves from the others. Pro Tools...well need I even go there?
See WhyteRabbit...one of my favorite "Lost" episodes by the way...
Sometimes it just pays to STFU instead of attempting to create an argument when no such thing is necessary. When I mentioned, "This was a setup" to Argle it was really meant to be tongue in cheek. I didn't really want to argue. The fact is that so-called "setup" did give ONE answer to the OP's question...and since you SO REFUSE to answer why is Sonar still considered the underdog you'll play stupid...or maybe you really aren't all too bright enough to understand when enough's enough.
All of this back and forth nonsense isn't necessary. Sonar simply has a history that's been hard to shake off. Yes it's a Windows only Daw. No it's never set any earth shaking standards or been positioned as anything other than "the alternative". Yes it's lived in Cubase's shadow for years. Those who've already moved on to other Daws might not realize how great Sonar is these days.
Maybe I'm one of them. Just my opinion but maybe...the OP should have asked why is Sonar considered an underdog in PRO circles? Then again...why should he? I think Sonar is the #1 selling Windows Daw in the U.S. correct? Obviously this is thanks to its home user base. Sonar is simply not a DAW you'll find being used in many pro recording studios or even news editing booths. Hell I've seen Adobe Audition used in radio stations...never Sonar.
Why? I suspect because it's the underdog. Judging from what used to happen when I had questions about Sonar...there weren't too many people I could turn to for answers other than Cakewalk support an an internet forum.
Not the same with Pro Tools at all. Neither with Logic or Live.
Depends on your circle I guess. Or their status?
