A) How could you *need* it if you don't even have it? Did you lose it?mabi wrote: I really need this soundfont for a track I'm working on these days...
B) If you really *need* such patches, I'm sure there's other methods to get some similar ones.
The problems Spe3d mentioned are actually valid.
In the past I helped to make this font available 3 times. After some thoughts about legal issues I won't do it again until these issues are cleared.
But then: IMO some of the free sounds at sf2midi.com are just as good, if not better. The same is true for some sounds at Hammersound. The only thing you'd need to do is to actually download, load/import/convert them and have a listen.
There's allways some price to pay...

This is a free soundfont, which used to be available at www.thesoundsite.net. That site is long gone... so get your copy now while the gettin is good. The download is 39MB, and it decompresses to 70MB.
The samples are quite decent, and include variations like Legato, Detache, Tremelo, Pizzicato, Arco. I think there's just one velocity layer, but I could be wrong about that... The soundfont has 48 instruments, including orchestral strings, piano, chromatic percussion (vibes, marimba, timpani), trumpet, french horns, flutes, and more.
I've RAR-compressed the soundfont so it's cross-platform (rather than using SFPack which is PC only).
PC users can grab a copy of WinRAR...

I prefer Squidfont, but if you want S J Orchestral (Saint James) it's available on sf2midi.com.

Oho, I like this thread
Been using the Taiji Gen. v. 6.66 soundfont - it's quite nice, but the strings leave me quite unsatisfied.
Im downloading the SJ soundfont now to take a look at the strings - hopefully they suffice.
I also noticed an issue of hosting. If anyone really cares about this anymore, I'd be willing to use my company's site as a mirror for any soundfonts anyone might want to host. Just email me - monkey at square1games dot com. Don't visit the main page right now - it's apparently got a virus on it that I need to sort out with AVG.
Not trying to advertise, just helping out with hosting issues.
In regards to the SJ soundfont, Ill take a look at it now... Hmm, the strings in the taiji are much better than the SJ strings. The Choir+ is orgasmic - the best choir samples I have ever heard!!
And FL 8 freezes up on the Violas. That's never happened to me like that before O.o I don't know if that's what you guys were talking about in earlier posts. The Oboe stands out as quite nice. Strings 2 is pretty good, until THAT froze up on me... that's just beyond strange...
Ill tinker around with it. Very nice soundfont so far! Thanks!
Again, if someone needs this to be mirrored, just drop me a line
