READ MORE---------------------------------->

So here goes..... I'm initiating a "ONE SYNTH CHALLENGE" based on the new Togu Audio Line VST Synth named the TAL-Elek7ro. I understand that a few have experienced a few minor issues with this new little gem but I'm sure we can all agree that the time is right for this challenge.

The premise of this challenge lies in the guidelines set forth here:

1. First and foremost the submitted track may only contain the TAL-Elek7ro as a sound generating VST synth. No other sound generating VST instruments will be allowed at all.

2. You may use any VST/hardware effects that you wish as long as it does not conatin any filtering at all. The only filters that will be allowed are the onbaord TAL-Elek7ro filters....You may use such devices that "glitch" or randomize the TAL-Elek7ro sound stream and or TAL-Elek7ro loops. But these devices may not use any Filtering as stated above. You may use any and all mastering effects that do not include filters as stated above, EQ devices are ok....

3. The track shall be no more than three (3) minutes long and shall be submitted in a downloadable MP3 format. Songs that stray to 3.02 will be allowed as long as its final reverbs and closing sounds, such as release trails and the like, but let's not make it a habit please.

4. No speech, singing or other recorded or sampled sounds. Again only the TAL-Elek7ro synth will be allowed.

6. Use any DAW you wish

More rules and changes to the rules as they are now may come in the near future as I receive input, ideas and guidance on this challenge. Submissions for this challenge will be able to be submitted here on 04/20/09 by then all edits to the challenge rules should be completed and the challenge in its concrete form will be under way by then. I will bump this thread accordingly based on edits and updates to these rules and other challenge info. The final day for submissions will be 05/23/09 and once all submissions are in and I sort them out I will then create a secondary "Poll" Thread that will allow everyone here at KVR to vote on your favorite track. Please one vote per user.

SUBMISSIONS:

Please submit all submissions here on this thread. Create a header in bold "SUBMISSION" at the begining of your submission post so I may sort the posts accordingly. You may submit a total of one(1) track per user submission. Sorry but I do not have the time to keep up on people adding and subtracting submissions, so keep it to one post/submission, and make sure the posting has the correct link so that I may download it accordingly in MP3 format.

I will be entering this challenge as well but seeing as its going to be a Poll driven vote I don't see an issue. However I will be sorting threw the submission and if I declare your to be not up to the rules and you get the dreaded "Outcast" PM from me please be rest asured you will have the chance to repost your submission if you think that it was tossed unfairily. Please use bold type in the main header for this new Post with the header being labled "RESUBMISSION VOTE" I will then take all PMs on your new post into consideration. If five users PM me and agree that your submission is up to the rules than you will be entered back in. Hows that?

When posting your submission as well as when naming it please keep the naming convention like this: "artist name_track name_TAL.mp3" ( like this SeRVe_Dead Bunnies_TAL.mp3 ).

PRIZES:

I will be creating a special "TAL-Elek7ro ONE SYNTH CHALLENGE WINNER" T-Shirt that will be available in a size determined by the winner. This item will be shipped asap soon after the winner is declared and the winner submits size requirements as well as shipping info. ( I understand I may need to contact Togu Audio Line for approval of using the TAL-Elek7ro name and or likeness for this prize)

KVR member rob_lee has generously donated his newest 192 Sylenth1 patch sound bank set

rob_lee has also created a new website to showcase his Professional VST sound banks, but in addition to that he has graciously set aside a section of his site to showcase the winning submission to the TAL-Elek7ro OSC. Please scroll to the bottom of the page to see the area to be used for this, here is the link: http://vstsoundsonline.webs.com/ Thanks rob_lee!

Michel Rouzic from Photosounder has been gracous enough to donate a full copy of the Photosounder program a 99.00 euro ($131) value to the TAL-Elek7ro OSC!

In addition I would like to express my advanced thankfulness to any and all developers and individuals that may be interested in donating any prizes. For new donated prizes the prize listings here will be updated and this thread will be bumped accordingly.

VOTING:

The voting will take place in a new "Poll" type thread where everyone at KVR will be able to vote on their favorate submitted track. The voting should be done of creative marrit and not on mastering quality. The voting rules will be laid out more in depth as the date of voting draws near.

HELP:

As I'm fairly new to the KVR vortex I would appreciate any input on this matter: Ideas, suggestions, out right disapproval of some of the rules, what ever. I have, as you may have gathered never created/started a One Synth Challenge. SO any input will be greatly appreciated. If you have feedback and ideas or concerns please PM me via KVR and we'll sort them out.

* In addition you may use this thread for gossip and suggestions. Just please do not add links other that a submission.

Thanks to everyone who is interested in this challenge, now get out there and make some noise!

That would seem a little outside the spirit of the challenge, surely? ... as long as it's a TAL-Elek7ro preset and it fits in your track, use it ... ? I was considering sampling my own Elek7ro percussion patches and loading them in to Guru for sequencing ... not to mangle, just to sequence ...

It's a brilliant synth - got some really nice bass patches out of it this afternoon. As good as most any other (payware) synth I use.

Peace,
Andy.

I know, I know.....

Thats fine, as long as you dont use any of Guru's filter fx, or other fx that will distort or obviously change the TAL sound beyond what the vst can do alone. If that makes sense :?

And glitching the TAL sound is just fine, as long as the glitching is just the repitching and cutting up of the TAL audio not warping it such as what some filter delays, grain delays andd so forth would do, again staying to the current FX rules is a must.

It's cool - I totally understand. There's plenty of scope to make pretty solid track with Ele7tro, plus a bit of delay / reverb / EQ / compression.

As someone else pointed out, "why did I buy all those other synths when there are free ones this good?" I don't know either ;) I've never used Synth1 but this has to be pretty close from what I've read about it.

Peace,
Andy.

Hey! another one synth challenge! Cool! .... Best of luck with the tracks ... I'll do a track if I can .... barely started with my Oatmeal track, but I'll get there! .... could do with a new teeshirt actually! :hihi:

Post

after careful consideration I've decided that I will change the rules to allow any vst effect as long as it does not use any filtering, please......

After thinking about it I just figured that restricting this challenge based on effects kinda goes against what I want this challenge to be about. Experimentation, imagination, and creative possibilities! I hope others will agree.

As far as the voting goes it should be done on creative/imagitive aspects not soley dependent on the mastering quality. I will address that furthure when the voting segment of this challenge takes place.

I have decreased the time frame of when submissions can be submitted. It is now set for 04/20/09. You may now start submitting your TAL-Elek7ro tunes. Please post all submissions here via a post with a Header that in bold states "SUBMISSION", that way I can sort through the thread and download your track for. The deadline remains unchanged. Please make it in MP3 format. Thanks!
