Old Free VSTi Gems From The Past

I tried going to http://soundcavern.free.fr/freeware/freeware.htm but when I tried to get visual orangeator and gakstoar alpha, all I got was 'Die angegebene Seite konnte nicht gefunden werden' (in passing, isn't it amazing how multilingual the web is making us all - Certainly I know by now what 'Achtung! Haben sie ihr passwort vergessen?' means. And I think that constant texting is producing the most literate generation since the Victorian Era...but I digress...)
I have been working on the vapourware site and it should be up by the end of the week,I am just waiting for the domain to propagate. I'll get Jimi to tell youse when we've got it running.

these already gone...
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3717.html
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3716.html
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3715.html
anybody got them?
must've taken them down for some reason;
but when you think about old vst pages disappearing
forever, it doesnt seem right: all the work that goes
into producing worthwhile content on the web, and it
gets dumped just because someone hasn't kept up their
subscription..there should be some central archive,
where all documentation and plugins are kept live.
i suppose this applies to all the research material,
etc. etc.
what's the deal with the web archive? how long is
stuff actually kept? it seems that whenever
anything gets discovered and hit on, there, even a few times,
the links die. so what's the point of an archive, if it clams
up when you start requesting from it!!?
btw: richhonchos list..

yeah, got em now, thanks.
dreaddd, was looking at akaidisk only the other day,
and no, it still doesn't do what it's supposed to.(...)
it runs, but doesn't recognise the akai disks.
does this need w98, then? ¨how does it work?¨
is there some kind of 'wrapper' to play 16bit stuff on XP?
( if that is what it's about )
also, could someone please explain how sbk files differ from
sf2 files. idle curiosity, cz i just downloaded a load and
saw that they are mainly smallsize files, which could be useful,
although probably awful quality, etc. bla bla. just wondering
whether to pick em up.
bumping this, so i know where to find it..so much there(?)
http://www.angelfire.com/music2/richhoncho/samples.htm
well, in fact a few work, but most are 404s etc. maybe a
webarchive job..

i think they were pointing out to the official sites, and in the case of LinPlug, they dont host anymore the files..indigocat wrote:I tried going to http://soundcavern.free.fr/freeware/freeware.htm but when I tried to get visual orangeator and gakstoar alpha, all I got was 'Die angegebene Seite konnte nicht gefunden werden'
youll need to do a search on the previous pages of this thread, as i think theyve been posted a couple of times already on hosting sites

i think it needs to be run under 16bit win or dos...running dos is a problem with NTFS formatted HDs, though there's still NTFSdos..
i never had time to dedicate to create a proper dos boot, like i wanted, to be able to run Xrazor, Akaidisk and some other stuff when needed...ill do that sooner or later tho..
