This seems like a good idea. I'll see what I can do.

Sounds interesting. I might give it a shot. I have no idea what this synth is capable of though, haven't downloaded it yet. Can you get decent drums out of this?

Yes, it's possible to get some nice kicks / toms and general percussion sounds out of this little monsterK-Bee wrote:Can you get decent drums out of this?

FYI.....
Got the go ahead from Patrick (TAL) today in regards to using the likeness, and name of Elek7ro as well as the TAL logo for the T-Shirt prize!
Now I just have to squeeze in the time to design it between doing my entry as well....

Am I to assume eq is considered a form of filtering? At least oatmeal had an eq...just sayin'.

No what I mean by Filters are secondary filters that would mask the onboard Elek7ro filters.....
Like say using bandpass or highpass or even a device that has a resonence and cutoff.......Like a filter - unless that filter is only isolated to effect such as reverb trails and the like
I guess its a sticky topic....But I feel that at times the most telling quality of a synth is its onboard filters! WIth the right filter set up any drugey sound can be manipulated to sound warm and lush or thin and lifeless, and thats what I dont want to be happening here. For the most part just want the Elek7ro sound to ring as true as possible.
Maybe the filtering idea goes to far? What are others views on this?
* EQ is very much acceptable! As are all other mastering devices; i.e. compressors, limiters, stereo wideners........etc

Good to hear! I was having an awful time trying to get the bassline to fit in the mix.

Please add that to the rules on top of this thread.serve wrote:EQ is very much acceptable!

IMO the rules should have stayed at "TAL-Elek7ro plus delay / reverb / EQ / compression". Allowing FX like phasers and flangers is fun, but starts to move away from the authentic TAL sound.
Anyway. Whatever. It's all good fun. Nothing but TAL filters is the best way to keep it real
Peace,
Andy.

Yup, setting the rules on these comps is a tricky affair! You're doin good tho serve, between this comp, the oatmeal challenge and the one before, we'll eventually nail it for future comps
The encourageing thing really is that from the point of view of folks wishing to participate, there's a kind of common understanding of what they should be ... so onwards and upwards eh?
