so onwards and upwards eh?
And outwards, and diagnalwards, and sidwards, and.............

Nah, but your right. Its a funny thing though because this is the first OSC i've ever entered and along with that its the first I've ever started!

My problem now is, do I work on my entry or the prize t-shirt design tonight?

ARGh

--------------------------------------------------------

ANd here to demonstrait the Elek7ro(as if it needed to be) is a little track I did over the past week or so. Its using all Elek7ro for the synth parts and the majority of the perc/drum parts as well. I however tossed in a little RMX at the end a few clicks from just before the vocal part, Highhats and shaker to be honest is all.....

The track is called: ASSISTANT No. 9

Maybe the filtering idea goes to far? What are others views on this?

* EQ is very much acceptable! As are all other mastering devices; i.e. compressors, limiters, stereo wideners........etc
an EQ is a moltitude of filters....i personally wouldnt allow it .
stereo widener? i wouldnt allow it.
but it don't matter....loosening up rules can help more ppl join in which is cool. im happy with that.

i'll personally just do a tune with no effects whatsoever ...apart from the limiter which is needed for obvious reasons.
elek7ro unlike other softsynths has a rich sound that stands by itself....and i just love it raw as it is.

Post

Ya but, I'm alowing EQ.....Sometimes like one person stated you just need a touch to bring out a submerged bass line or what ever for that matter. I know there are a mass slew of other non EQ techs that would do this, but its just a contest based on the Elek7ro sound not on your mastering techs

But for everyone who has chimed in on this thread and voiced ops I greatly appriciate it! Thanks so much.....

I'm loosing track here, way too much info here for my questionable intellectual capacity  Is the above close to what we're allowed to use? What about chorus? It doesn't add to the sound but it sure does change it

Sorry - I was just stating my opinion, not any rules. See the first post for the official rules, serve is doing a great job of keeping them up to date.

Peace,
Andy.
... space is the place ...

I too must apologize for the confusion regarding the FX rules....

Maybe I should have been more stern and left it as was in the begining, but oh well so here is a recap:

Use any and all FX you want so long as they do not contain any secondary filtering...... EQ and the other main mastering FX are ok.

I felt I should change the rules to reflect some requests and also because the use of such FX goes along the lines of sound design and freedom of experimentation. :D

SUBMISSION

Ok, here's my contribution. It's a kind of design study whether TAL Elek7ro can deliver the groove for a minimal/tech house club track.

Artist: 2 Many Synths
Track: Front Panel

@phazed

Awesome, thanks........Though i guess I sounded a bit anal

Any way new info here!

KVR member rob_lee has created a new website to showcase his Professional VST sound banks, but in addition to that he has set graciously aside a section of his site to showcase the winning submission to the TAL-Elek7ro OSC. Please scroll to the bottom of the page to see the area to be used for this, here is the link: http://vstsoundsonline.webs.com/

Thanks again rob_lee!

Here's my entry, you can guess what's the flavour for this one ;p

http://donthaveto.com/temp/erektlo-challenge.mp3

made with 9 instances of elek7ro, using the factory presets with a few adjustments here and there.

Phazed, nice kick!

Post

both tetsuneko and phazed have set the standards pretty high. mouthwatering stuff.
theres still long time to go till the deadline so i guess multiple submissions are possible.
this synth challenege is gonna produce many great tracks.... fat and rich sound....its a joy to listen to it in action.

Its a true bummer, between running this OSC, designing the T-shirt prize, and doing a friggin multitude of projects, and working 10 hour days, yet trying to work out 2-3 times too I may not have time to do my submission....

The messed up part is that I have done two pretty decent tunes with this vst, just for the hell of it, yet I've sat down a couple of times now and I cant come up with sh*t.... Oh well.......

I think thats a really good place to post my Elek7ro test song, just for fun :)

This maybe does not interest anyone :?
I used 20 TAL-Elek7ro instances, a lot TAL-Dub Delays, SSL's free Compressor Plugin for snare, some cubase 5 reverbs, compressors and its "mastered" with UAD Plugins.

Either way thanks for the submission.....

I'm downloading all the subs. right now, and will be reviewing them over the weekend, while designing the T-shirt prize - thanks again everyone!
