How exactly do you play the keyboard with glide/portamento?

Same as without ... but the notes slide into one another.

You can play it "normally" of course, but one of the most common techniques to use when glide is on, is to hold down one key, and then depress a new one while holding the first (of course, this should be a monophonic patch). The first note will then glide up or down to the newer note.

To some degree though, this can be a cliched technique - it sounds very "70's synth" - so use it sparingly.
