highest quality vbr is better than a cbr these days

sounds great, no 'feedback' necessary

how many layers to the bassline? it sound massive
and why did you roll off so much trebles on the drums?

exxxy: well, after the r'n b -ish intro is over a second bassline layer comes in. and at the very bottom, almost inaudible, there's this really low sub boom.

surprised about the treble rolloff on the drums that you mentioned, are you sure? i had a feeling there maybe were too MUCH treble going on in that department.. i'll check it out, thanks for the tip

there's definitely not too much treble off the drums
dont change it, its less treble than i use or expected, certainly for d'n'b - i like it because its a little softer

Huge-ass download...

Anyway, nice tune, but it needed a bit more subdued intro I think. I'm listening to it from a mixing standpoint, though.

Didn't sound 'oldskool' to me. Of course, oldskool to me is more like '93-'95 stuff. I guess the absence of a lot of filtered breakdowns and such makes it oldskool?

Except for the ridiculous file size, cool tune.

yes I guess the term 'oldskool' is relative, and will always be..

oh, i did put out a link to a smaller VBR mp3 in the post as well, for the record

but anyway, glad you commented on the filesize. i've been under the impression that a lot prefer 320 kbps mp3 these days.. is this trend really nothing but a 'pointless' spec pleaser? a space wasting overkill?
hq vbr seems most sensible then i guess.

i just go for top level vbr, and if thats still a bit big, another maxed at 192 or so

i think cbr is a bit old now although maybe some player dont do vbr
