It might be ReAlly Goot

I am interested because like Reason or not (which I do) no one can say their software is poor quality.

The Props continued success is based on their early market saturation and the "aura" of cutting edge tech.(esp. among the sheeple Hip-Hop community), despite Reason's slooow development cycles, antiquated, aliasing synths, and played-out "rack of hardware" GUI.

I wonder if this one will have more than two keyboard shortcuts?

maybe it will be a shortcut engine to Reason?
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

I'm betting it's called ReCord or ReCorder. Or, possibly ReDundant, depending on how many features they steal from other DAWs.
At least you know it will work "well" with ReWire...that's the main Reason why they're working on a new DAW.

I still wish they would just implement this new "DAW" within Reason...not outside of Reason. Customers have been asking for this for a long time now. I for one probably don't "need" this new DAW that they're working on. Live works well with Reason and I don't see how Propellerheads can ReWire it any better...for now anyway.

I do think a full-on DAW would be a bit of a strange choice - considering R4 did so much work on the Reason sequencer. I think it will be something that integrates really well over Rewire (bi-directional audio? so Reason sends & receives) and adds VST support and perhaps more. Maybe a live sampling device? ie. Record directly into NN-XT like a hardware sampler. That would fit the hardware paradigm, and wouldn't require another sequencer in the new product.

Post

I assume their motivation for this new direction is because of those who do not buy Reason because of the lack of VST support. Yes, there is Rewire, but that still feels like a workaround to many, I think, who want their host to be the host they use. I have to wonder how this new product development will affect Reason's rock-solid reliability.

Or maybe they'll just release Reason 5? With the record into NNXT idea? Because essentially if they released a product that could just record audio which then goes into reason then it would essentially be "audacity" with a little less leg work afterwards

I've always liked the idea of reason - never much got around to using it - due to lack of audio in, and just some issues easily getting a great sound from the synths but am still hanging on to my copy of R4 incase something good happens.

Ahh how fun all this speculating is!

I can't imagine it will be a standard "me-too" type of DAW that they announce. Coming from the Props it's always going to be something a bit off-centre

Let's hope that whatever it is though, the sequencer is better done than in Reason.

I like Reason. I would use it more if I could just use the NNXT in Live without everything else.

So maybe they are releasing VSTi / RTAS versions of their instruments... I hope so...
I am not a robot. You are a robot.

Maybe it's going to be Reason 5 with audio recording capabilities and a reasonable price. :hihi:

I think its going to be a nice set of Reason mugs and matching tea towels....and about time it will be too!!

yet somehow I still find it incredibly useful. Reason is basically the hardware sound modules that I dont have room for.

It could be specialized host targetted as some very speicific markets...there's still room for that I guess.
