Maybe the Props have bought REAPER off Justin... (just like Presonus bought the Kristel guys and Mackie bought Tracktion, etc...)

:hihi:

I'm pretty confident they haven't. They got some seriously talented people working for them, and I couldn't even dream that they would start using code that wasn't theirs.

I have a couple of Questions, it may be slightly OT but an answer or two could be of great help to me in a research project (not related to music, DAWs or VSTs):

There are many people (some famous) who use Propellerheads software and have nothing but praise for it. Also the general industry opinion, even from those who don't use, is the Propellerheads code is perhaps the best in the industry.

1) Why do some people have such negative things to say about Reason and the Propellerheads overall? (I don't mean the no VST/Audio thing as the arguments seem to eclipse those 'flaws')

2) It almost looks like some of those people feel the need to destroy Propellerheads altogether. Is this true?

You can answer here, in a PM or an email straight to me.

Thanks

:)

EDIT: I will move to another thread if requested.

Since the Reason version first announced in 2000 had much more features planned (like Rewire Input machine, mp3-support and advanced rex player and editor)than it finally got, it may be a little chance that they still try to implement it (Like they did with the Midi to CV announced in 2000 and implemented in Reason 4) to make Reason the software they first wanted it to be.

If reason had the ability to record audio I might just consider it as may main daw.. I quite like the idea of having a set enclosed system to work with instead of so much messing around with various plugs.. Not to mention Reason's great use of CPU..

I guess it is like anything else - you speak highly of things you like, and things which in some way don't work for you, or you dont like, you speak badly of. I guess reason has people going both ways. Similar views are often put out about Logic studio, or cubase, or energyxt. At the end of the day people can do very cool things with any bit of software or hardware. And a lot of people make reason work, and a lot dont.

I for some reason still really like the program, just find it takes a lot of fiddling to get a nice sound (which i can get more easily with other synths) - but still I have a soft spot for it.. dunno why exactly...

In my experince you find once you've used a DAW like Cubase then fire up Reason , Reason tends to sound "Boxy/Plastic" however this "May" be because some of Reasons preset have to much reverb on them ? but it does sound boxy/plastic in my experince.

I do love reason it just sounds crap.

I am with you on that one. But fro my experience Reason sound is just the same as in any other DAW. It is generators and effects that we don't like it seems. Some people love Subtractor but when i tested that synth i was thinking that someone is joking with me or that this is some sort of dev. eastern egg....

Prepare for flame...

I guess the only way to find out is to wait. I'd be really surprised if they're planning on competing in the existing DAW market, so hopefully we're going to see a pretty unique product.

Swedish code has a warmer, tube-like tone.
