Waiting? In this day in age? Please, we are in the "I want it now" generation! (or at least I am)

You can easily do that now in Ableton Live 7 or 8 by using the External Instrument in Live.

You are a laggard. Isn't everyone else in the "I expected it delivered yesterday" stage already?

1) Why do some people have such negative things to say about Reason and the Propellerheads overall? (I don't mean the no VST/Audio thing as the arguments seem to eclipse those 'flaws')

I guess it is like anything else - you speak highly of things you like, and things which in some way don't work for you, or you dont like, you speak badly of. I guess reason has people going both ways. Similar views are often put out about Logic studio, or cubase, or energyxt. At the end of the day people can do very cool things with any bit of software or hardware. And a lot of people make reason work, and a lot dont.

I for some reason still really like the program, just find it takes a lot of fiddling to get a nice sound (which i can get more easily with other synths) - but still I have a soft spot for it.. dunno why exactly...
I've owned Reason for a while now. Since Version 1. I have all manner of soft synths now that I tend to use more. However... whenever I fire up Reason, I end up composing a song. You can say what you want about the sound. For me though, no other software inspires me to compose quite like Reason. I'll end up with 2 to 3 songs in just a day if I'm playing around with reason. With my big DAW hosts, I'll end up playing with settings and getting deep into editing when I ought to be composing. When I need to get something out quick, Reason often fits the bill. I really wish I had some of those instruments in a VST format though. I also like the sequencer. It just allows me to get to work. I don't get sidetracked by a myriad of sub menus.

Granted, I prefer the sound of Zebra, Rapture, Glass Viper, and others over Reasons synths, but I cannot fault it's streamlined design. I cannot wait to see what their host brings to the table.

They put this new video up. They definitely have something to show. Look at those producers jaws dropping.

I have had the same feelings about Reason. I found it very easy to quickly come up with compositions and only switched to Sonar when Reason 4 came out because I didn't like what they did with the sequencer and clips. I still do not like the clips approach to the sequencer and I was really hoping they would make it optional as did a lot of other users. To me the former sequencer was one of things that wasn't broken so why did they fix it?

I also agree with others about the rock solid performance of the Reason software. I never crashed Reason in the four years I worked with it. I crashed Sonar the day I got it. I do like ReWire but it is a bit of a kludge working with two programs like that (would help to have dual monitors which I unfortunately don't). Reason is very forgiving to my CPU(s) whereas Sonar with VSTs like Omnisphere bring it to its knees on many occasions until you figure out the limitations and how to work around them. I have had Reason pieces that had fifty instruments (counting all of the Combinator configurations) loaded without a problem.

I really look forward to their DAW release and hope that all of the good things about Reason are reflected in it.

Yep, I think most of the real big name producers were in that clip too. Amazing.

Well tomorrow we will know! I seriously have not been this excited about a music app before. I'm sure it will be a new system that integrates Reason in some really cool way.

Cant wait :)
