Except that Record will use a dongle.skipkent wrote:That's great! The Gearbox tones have pretty much everything you need for songwriting. It'll be nice to have these available (in this app) without the dongle. Also there's a Line6 modeling plug included.

He confirmed it over at the Propellerhead forum.
"Props have thought this through very carefully and come up with a dongle solution that isn't annoying or intrusive at all. It's nothing like you're used to from Cubase or other audio apps with traditional dongle protection."

Could it be that KVR has outgrown such a sequencer ? Maybe someone should create KVR-Junior or something alike ?
J/K
Could it be that this new host will rather go into the Acid / Project 5 direction which themselves also suffer from the "shallow editing syndrome" ? I.e. MIDI / Audio editing are very limited to a point where you have to use something else in parallel for deeper editing purposes, but the interface / easyness remain as a sort of selling point.

Well, as long as it's not a hardware dongle, it's ok.

Forgot to mention earlier. The price is $250, or $150 if you own Reason.
Beta test begins on Monday. Will probably decide to purchase at the end. Seems like Propellerheads have done us a favor by releasing this tech at this price point. Sure you're thinking "recording" WTF? It's more than that - there's a polish to the "desk".
Extra nice is the fact that you can have Reason racks next to each other in lanes as opposed to just vertical stacking now. Easier to keep things seperate. Seems very quick to navigate around Large work areas.

I won't buy it if it has a dongle.

Thanks, ehdyn. Hard to tell if it's expensive or not for now.ehdyn wrote:Forgot to mention earlier. The price is $250, or $150 if you own Reason.

BTW, you mentioned you would post some pics. Do you have them posted already?

Right. It's not just the added functionality of recording and the mixer, it actually makes Reason a heckuvalot better to work with in terms of navigation/workflow/window management. The sequencer window is now the home of the document (it used to be the rack) and you can detach both the mixer and the (multi-column) rack.ehdyn wrote:Forgot to mention earlier. If not then it's going to be majorly
I can't imagine that even to pure reason users (who are not completely reality challenged) this could offer some advantages. Bring on the demo and let's get over it

Hmmm...So they announced something that is already available for years within "competition" and Reason users are excited....Nice...
It make you think how Reason users also have "closed environment" way of thinking and looking at available solutions.
No disrespect intended. Funny indeed...
New product....
Reason has been little revolution at that time. This is just another little money maker wrapped as "something different"... I was really expecting more for Propellerhead dev. team...
