I selected vintage synths as the SampleTank sounds I want most. However, my vote is largely based on the capabilities of SampleTank 2.5 - that is, SampleTank as it is today. When I am looking for very complex samples based on acoustic instruments such as acoustic drums, guitar, bass, piano or strings, I largely turn to Kontakt and use SampleTank for less complex sample libraries, like vintage synths, that don't require the same complexity to sound good or authentic.
Of course, the types of sample libraries for which I am most likely to turn to SampleTank are subject to change if SampleTank 3's capabilities increase to match that of Kontakt. At that point, I would be happy to use SampleTank 3 for any library that was excellent quality.
I am really hoping that SampleTank 3 is a big step forward from the current version. When SampleTank originally came out, I thought it was really the right product at the right time and it has been a long time since then and the current standard (which I believe would be Kontakt/Kontakt Player-based libraries, and, for a more direct ROMpler comparison, Independence) is now much higher. It would be great to see SampleTank 3 meet or, ideally, exceed today's standard and innovate.

For us as sound developers we look at SampleTank differently than we do the streaming sampler formats. When you want acoustic instruments with lots of velocities, alternate switching, full duration and chromatically sampled then full featured "samplers" like Kontakt (or our Infinite Player - same format), EXS24, HALion 3 and the like are really ideal for that because of their features. But, on the other hand, it is nice to be able to flip through a variety of sounds and quickly manipulate them with synth engine controls, various synth/sample technologies (like Stretch & PSTS) and of course IK Effects (and I've got a wish list of effects I'd like to see in future SampleTank dev... don't know about you!). If you want to run something on a laptop then SampleTank is the way to go. If you have one of those V-Machines or a Receptor then I think SampleTank is ideal for that too. It's a workhorse for me as a musician and it is unique. It's not a "me too" sampler. (Most of those samplers were sort of "me too" Giga solutions... not that it is a bad thing because it has its place but what about the Sample-Workstation in plug-in form? There's less of those but SampleTank-based plug-ins are a good platform for that!).
Each sampler for us has its place and we develop according to that platform's strengths. But, we're always interested in hearing what everyone wants and why! Keep it coming everyone. This could be an interesting thread. We'll make it fun too.

I am always looking for percussion elements. I tend to record bands live off the floor and after they have left the studio, I lay down percussion tracks, shakers, triangles, ethnic instruments etc. While I have a nice assortment in Sampletank , this category of sound could be enhanced.

I voted Prog/Classic Rock/Jazz but also like Vintage Analog and Rare. More cinematics like the upcoming IP titles would be great.
I love SampleTank on Receptor and also on the laptop. I've got multi-out and stereo-out templates in Cubase for my SampleTank setups. Though you mention we aren't discussing SampleTank itself here so I'll stop. Can't wait to see some new stuff, though.

There is already a damn ton of vintage/prog/classic rock stuff...it seems most of the ST releases in the last year were for all of that old stuff, and I was becoming disappointed with the new releases to the point that I almost stopped paying attention to them. The market is also saturated with hip hop and dance crap too in every format imaginable, so we don't need more of that either.
I think you guys have most of the sounds in the poll well covered already. The definite exceptions being choirs and horns/winds (and maybe some sound fx or cinematic stuff, and orchedstral percussion?). There is a huge lack of good choirs and good orchestral horns available from you guys for Sampletank. A likely easy way around that would be to make the Miroslav Refills available in ST format. Of course, one could argue that you could buy Miroslav Philharmonik instead...though if you already own Sampletank, the Philharmonik instrument itself isn't necessary. Plus you have to purchase the entire huge sound collection when someone may only need say, the choirs and horns?
Maybe some industrial, dark, or experimental themed stuff...you guys don't have much of anything along those lines.

My 1st choice is for cinematic percussion like storm drum. Taiko's, tablas, congo's, etc...

Voted for World Instruments and Percussion. Got the rare instruments vol. 2 but I'm always looking for more, esp. Chinese and Vietnamese instruments, as well as African string instruments.
I'd love soundsets that would do the same sort of thing as the Kong Audio stuff for instance... if it was good enough and sufficiently cheap to compete.

I voted for rare instruments, but there's always room for more ethnic/world stuff. One category that sometimes crosses over into both the rare & world groups is historical instruments. More of those would be nice; serpents, anyone.
I agree with one of the other posters that you can never have enough analog synth samples. I found that even though Sonik Synth 2 (I use its sounds in Sampletank), for example, may have sawtooth waves sampled from different synths, they all have subtle differences. I've gotten some great sounds by layering the 'same' waveform, but from different analog synths, in Sampletank.
I don't think Squids should rest until every vintage synth (or other keyboard) has been sampled. He doesn't really need to sleep...

I want a sampletank 3 that will make me stop missing having a motif,triton and fantom as a vsti...
No offence, but quite frankly there is nothing that I have heard from sonic reality that will make it compete with Omnisphere or Alchemy or Any specialised Kontakt 2/3 library ever... I am willing to be proven wrong.... so instead of going for either the one of a kind or the truly top of the line. I would prefer superb bread and butter sounds in a new gui with a revamped browser.
