I'm off to bed soon, and when I wake up tomorrow there will invevitably be another 10 pages + the same as there was the last couple of mornings.
Will I read it all.... okay, probably not
Yeah, it reminds me of the threads on MacRumors after Microsoft had started running their "Laptop Hunters" ads. To make a long story short, Apple has been running these "Hi, I'm a Mac" ads for years where they ridicule PCs and Windows, and Microsoft has remained silent. But in this new ad campaign they targeted Macs directly, talking about the high prices and that Macs are more about aesthetics than power. Man oh man this provoked a lot of foaming at the mouth among Mac heads who went on and on for hundreds of pages yapping about viruses and PCs that break down when you look at them funny...headquest wrote:This thread has gone huge in less than a week though.

I'm not too keen to discuss Record until I have seen and used it myself, but I can offer an answer to pdxindy's question:pdxindy wrote:...what possible reason (pun intended) could there be to purchase Record...
Yeah, and considering the stability and CPU lightness that Reason has always shown, this is very promising considering the potentially unequalled efficiency of the whole stuff...Laraka wrote:pdxindy wrote:So to answer your question, for me the idea of having a single program to handle sequencing of the Reason soft-synths, plus audio recording, is very appealing. Less technology, more music.

Moreover, in propiland everybody has more or less the same stuff to use (except for samples and loops); so it's only a matter of skills, what you come up with, while in vst-land, there is a lot of tuning-car like discussion going on and the boys comparing their diks instead of comparing their skills.
Then a certain ignorance and lack of usb-sticks.

meh
ok then why don't you use Rebirth to produce your music? It has less modules than Reason.pdxindy wrote: Less technology, more music.
Yeah, I think you're on to something there. It's like a site for diehard fans of performance cars where the discussion normally revolves around penis measuring like which one is better, BMW M3 or Audi RS5, and whether you should put Asanti or Schmidt rims on them, and which tuning kit is the sweetest, RDX or Hurricane? And then along comes Record which is a "people's DAW" that's not even trying to compete with M3 or RS5, it's more like a Volkswagen that should pass by unnoticed, but it's a VW with a twist due to the kickass timestretch and the SSL9000 style mixer, so it's like an ordinary Volkswagen that does 0-60 mph in 3 seconds leaving M3 owners' uncircumcised members hanging like floppy beagle's ears. And adding insult to injury, no tuning kit or custom rims will fit this VW. Argh! Controversy!mellotronaut wrote:imagine all those super wise vst-heads, who spent so much money for their Ferraris and Maseratis and now there is a highway and ... .
Almost. You forgot to mention that this kickass Volkswagen doesn't have wheels. And its not compatible with any auto parts you would find in an Autozone store.blank/diod wrote:Yeah, I think you're on to something there. Zion7, those were my words, not pdxindy's.zion7 wrote:ok then why don't you use Rebirth to produce your music? It has less modules than Reason.pdxindy wrote: Less technology, more music.
It does 0-60 in 3s but doesn't have wheels? You mean it's got wings? I'm intrigued, I always wanted the Moller SkyCar but if I can get an airborne VW, I'm sold.zion7 wrote:Almost.
