This is my favorite sound at the moment...

How to make that sound...

Okay, one more attempt from me. (This one done in with the demo version of Massive -- with the side effect that I'm more interested in owning Massive now that I've seen how musically some of its parameters behave when pushed to limits.)

As always seems to happen, I eventually started making choices based on what I thought sounded cool, more than what I thought sounded accurate. Definitely not 100% faithful to the model here. But I did try to achieve that glitchy "bounce" effect at the end. (The trick for this turned out to be to send the main oscillator frequency down several octaves, so the wave becomes a bunch of clicks that interact with the filter and overdrive in a distinctive way.)

Try with a 303 emulation and the old Quadrafuzz, you don't need anything more, in the mix all differences will be masked.

(I don't agree with that at all!)

Pretty different sound, but might help: gsoto-visionone.ogg

Very narrow pulse wave with some low pass filtering
-> phaser
-> hard clipper
-> high pass filter

(I used Xhip + xhipeffects phaser, hardclip and filter.)

Ugo "Rez" might manage something similar.

There are three presets, played one by one. No other effects. Some light compression. Drums to keep your feet moving....

This VST is curtesy of Krakli.
Ian has produced another gem of a VSTi.

:love:
This is a really hard sound to nail
The above VST makes that sound with only one oscillator! :shock:
:D
from a year ago :wink: That was a very quick attempt at that sound...at higher resonance it's very close ( in the first preset).

Get yourself a Krakli S3K. It is FREE. :D

sounds to me as if they are playing a synth through a slightly over driven guitar cabinet with one of those little old green boss phasers - the phaser has a special overdrive of its own that can make a similar sound... but who knows these days it could be a line 6 or something...

Here's my attempt at getting the sound, i think it's pretty close..

I think I'm a little late.
I saw this post just now. I'm trying to create a sound like the one on the bassline of Vision One by Royksopp.
You're all right, it's one of the most interesting sound I've ever heard, and it's very hard to create.
If you care here you can listen to my experiment. The bassline is different, because I'm woking on another song...

If you like it I can tell how I made it... even if still be a lot of work to do on it!!!

Well done, Beniamino! Wouldn't mind knowing what instrument you used and how you've programmed it...

Good, I'm glad you like it.
It's done using Logic 8.
There's only one saw waveform (I've generated it using Tone 2 Gladiator 2, but you can use the what you prefer).
Than I applied a LP 30db filter at higher frequencies (20.000 Hz), with a resonance (about 40%).
After that the sound passes in the Tone2 Bifilter2. Here I applied another filter (the name is EQ Block) to attenuate frequencies above 573 Hz, using resonance again (about 50%). In Bifilter2 I also set a Waveshape with the max drive distortion.
Than I applied a soft Phaser (using Supaphaser donationware by Smartelectroix) and an equalizer to give more bass and medium frequencies...
I hope you understand, because I don't speak a good english!

I think that working more on it I can achieve better results...
