I'm waiting for Reason 6 that comes with a modelled Producer section including Alan Parsons, Georgio Moroder and Mutt Lang (if Puff Dandy is there I ain't using that setting).

Reason 7 will expand that into whole Studios so I can work with Conny Plank at Abby Road, Nassau or Kling Klang.

7.5 will also allow you do ReDate the Studio and Producer so I can run with Ted Templemann in 1983 out at Muscle Shoals with The Doobies as session musicians.

The future looks good for Reason/Record :D

Benedict you forgot to mention that Reason 7 will include the ReViSiT plug-in adapter and that it will integrate flawlessly with Babya Logic.

My view about this, is that if I'm going to get it, it's to be used for quick mixing for demos CDs.

Get the audio tracks files from the band/rapper/singer, bring them to this "DAW", use the modeled mixer with the EQ/COMP and make the tracks blend together quickly.

Use the master bus compressor emulation to "glue" that a little.
so, what are you going to do if the drummer was off half of the time and the snare came out sounding all wrong? Or the bass player missed several phrases and there's clicks all over the second guitar part?

Your tools are..

-erm.. that's it

It would make sense within the demo version of record

I'm beginning to think the biggest problem is the mixed message.

Easy to use recording software, that's all about non-technical music:

If we ignore Reason for the moment, then yes, it does this superbly.... but then there's the whole mention of SSL - so it's for non-technical musicians who like to moonlight as desk sound engineers ?? Sure, they can use their ears to change the sound so it's nice, but you don't need that many controls in this case and it certainly doesn't need to be advertised as sounding like a famous desk.

Add in Reason, and it's trying to be something else, so let's look at it from that perspective - an enhancement to Reason:

Yes. It's a very good enhancement, so why not call it Reason 5 - is it purely because they "won't ever add audio" to Reason ? Okay, it does change the Reason workflow to some extent, but not so much as it's unwelcome.

I would imagine that there are many future plans for where record will go, and that more advanced audio editing will come along - it's just being classed as 'simple' for the moment to get a product out of the door. I'll buy it as an enhanced Reason (fullscreen app with multi-column modular racks) to rewire in, but as an audio recorder I'll more look forward to version 1.5 or 2.

Having said all of that - for lower-power laptops, knowing the props ability to deal with performance in a closed system, this could make for a very nice portable recording studio - all main editing done after a bounce into something more powerful.

I am looking forward to ReBorn which will be released in 2020.

One of the features are that if you have Rebirth installed you can use Rebirth's Modules inside of Reason 6 which is now renamed to ReBorn :D

Record has also got a new name - ReRecord which you can use instead so you get more functionality of ReBorn and Rebirth in the third application :hihi:

Yes, i think I will be getting it as an enhancement to Reason. Like COlin I had a play with Reason again last night (after quite a break) - and its just so much FUN.

So I think its strengths are:
1) it's fairly easy, particularly to musicains who are used to some hardware.
2) it's fun
3) the sound quality will no doubt be good
4) the mixing paradigm is looking to be great
5) the timestretch seems to be next-generation
6) it will be very easy to collaberate with others using this app
7) a good extension to a great scratchpad (Reason).

That's enough for me to justify the $149. Plus a suprising lot of my students have Reason, so will probably be interested in this too.

I must also say that with Cubase working out very very well for me, and with this in the wings as a great *fun* tool, Ableton is looking unlikely to get updated from 7 to 8 here. In fact I have found Live increasingly frustrating of late - the workflow is becoming far less attractive than it used to be, at least for me anyway.

Who needs a Reason to Record? Guess I do as long as the Recording is Reasonable. Maybe thats what the Propheads are up to....Reasonable Recording at a reasonable price in a reasonable amount of time with a learning curve that's within Reason for Reasonable results. Sounds very Reasonable, indeed. Probably the "Reason" I'll buy it if beta testing doesn't give me a reason not to.

Am I being unreasonable or just redundant?
Never mind....I must of had a "Senior Moment", that's my story and I'm stick'n to it. :smack:

Equally amazing how some people have gotten so upset just because of the marketing...

...we're now into Day 5 of certain people slagging off a product that they've not seen, and that clearly isn't aimed at them anyway...

... just because the marketing and product decisions somehow offended them

Weird. :?

Apparently there are a few KVRers whose posts in this particular thread make them appear to be somewhat "Unreasonable" at best.....can't blame the P-Heads for how they market their product. It's "Record" for Pete's sake, you're supposed to "Push it!".....if you don't you get nothin.

And after all that work.....We got time for another take? Sure, for 140.00 you can take all you want, within Reason of course but maybe that's push'n it too much? :band:
