I'm pretty sure it was meant as a joke...written in a deadpan (no smiley) wayzion7 wrote:HHAHAHAHAHHAHAHACWoodOne wrote:Maybe Record's innovations will spark a new trend and other DAW's like Logic, Cubase, and Live will discontinue their AU and VST support also...
riiiiiight
Record's ability to record sound and timestretch sound and drag Reason modules inside it will totally kill the VST world. What planet are you on?

I'm surprised the Props wasted their time making a GM player for Record, isn't that the point of Reason... to be the sound module?

Yeah they're definitely the equivalent of fishing lures in the Reason universe and some people tend to collect them more than they use them.AllenPOPO wrote:"VST plugins are like fishing lures, they're not designed to catch fish, they're designed to catch fishermen".
heh intuitive take for sure, but c'mon, what about the gazillion crappy to not so crappy refills out there? what are those? like musks to hunters?
Props' own fills are wicked though (bass, drums, piano, electromechanical).

I think it's kind of funny how the people who bitch and complain about Propellerhead don't really realize that they are NOT the target customers of those products. It's like utility vehicle drivers complaining that a sports car can't handle their needs. Different market segment, different customer base.

Not exactly. You only get the Reason synths/samplers if you own Reason *and* Record. So what about for those who only buy Record? They would have no synths/samplers at all. So ID8 was created so these users could have some simple midi sample tracks in their projects.
I don't think it took them very long... Its a very simple device for a very specific purpose.

So far as I know, that hasn't been officially mentioned. I could be wrong though, but there's plenty of people asking on the props forum with no answer.Muzik 4 Machines wrote:i have 1 serious question
is the "mixer" patchable?(like with the racks) or is it just a stay there no touch mixer that creates a fader per track(is there at least groups on the mixer?) all things i cant see from the screenshots

There is a rack effect per mixer channel, that you can fold out I believe, and insert effects and do things to.koalaboy wrote:So far as I know, that hasn't been officially mentioned. Honestly, I think don't think this describes the target market either.koalaboy wrote:You're correct though, I think, in that the majority of people here aren't the target market. It's just very strange to offer an 'SSL' master console and all the complexity that entails to people who aren't really technically minded.
There are a large number of professional producers out there using Reason, as well as hobbyists. Many of them don't hang out here or, at least, don't post because they are busy making music. They don't waste time quibbling over tools. There ARE technically minded but, at the end of the day, they are MORE about the music than the technology and more about getting something done rather than talking about what can be done.
I use Sonar, Traktion and Pro Tools with an appropriate arsenal of plugins as well as Reason. But when I need to get something done quickly and done without the occasional crash interrupting me, I go to Reason. The point is that I understand technology and I understand the SSL board in Record and I understand that Reason doesn't have as much flexibility as a DAW host/plugin environment. The things is, I just don't have time to immerse myself in technology when creating music is the immediate goal.
Because of this, I think Record will fit into my arsenal well.
Don't assume that, because people choose to use Prop's product, that they aren't technically minded. They may just not want the technology to get in the way when they are wearing the musician/producer hat.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
