Guess we need some filler material then...LawrenceF wrote:27 more pages to 100...

How about I post this really high screenshot that will take up half a page and then y'all can do nested quotes with cheesy one-liners?

That's one big mixer. I wonder how big screen you need to see it. Or does it sit in a 1024x800 window.. Propaheadz style?

I'm late to the party on this one it seems.
Nice looking channel strip that.
Hopefully it will be section-collapsible though... otherwise, I fear for the laptop users and the endless scrolling in store for them.

You can collapse each row. I doubt that anyone needs to look at the signal path section 100% of the time, for example.chaoticz wrote:That's one big mixer. I wonder how big screen you need to see it. Or does it sit in a 1024x800 window.. Propaheadz style?
If you want a mixer swamped with features it's going to be big on the screen -- you can't have the cake and eat it too. The alternative is to design it like in Cubase where you can't see everything at once, you always get the faders / meters / pan but then you have to switch between different views (sends 1-4, sends 5-8, inserts, EQ etc). You can't see any two at the same time unless you open multiple instances of the mixer window, in which case you also get multiple instances of the fader/meter row, and they're the real space hogger in that mixer.
So... Big mixer with all bells & whistles > too big for any screen > alternative A: Toggling between mutually exclusive views; alternative B: Make the sections collapsible so you can choose any combination you want.
Having worked with both, I prefer alternative B. I'm also OK with C (a mixer with less features where you can see the whole thing on a small-ish screen) in certain situations, I usually get by with just 4 sends and a 3 band EQ with sweepable mid.
Not sure what 1024x800 has to do with "Propaheadz style", the Reason sequencer has been detachable from the rack since version 2.0 and has claimed every pixel of any screen larger than 1600 pixels horizontal since then.

It is section collapsible. You don't see it in that shot but to the right of the master section is A) A row of buttons for collapsing/expanding each section, B) A navigation pane with a miniature of the mixer where you click and drag to scroll to the desired section(s).advaya wrote:I'm late to the party on this one it seems.

Well let's see.sophtrazor wrote:Blehhhhh..... for $600 with Reason and Record together that better be one damn good SSL emulation thats all i have to say
You can get the Waves SSL emulation for $749. Of course that's *just* the mixer strip plugin -- no audio recording, no sequencer, no instruments, no FX, no soundbanks, no standalone functionality.
Or, you can get the complete Record/Reason suite for $629.
Which one of those better be one damn good SSL emulation again?
My, what a headscratcher...

Oh I see. Arrows are not visible on this particular screen?blank/diod wrote:You can collapse each row. By Propaheadz style I've ment the rack not the sequencer. Have you ever seen how cool it looks on a 30"? You can't see shit there without a magnifying glass.

You can see how it works in this shot. From right to left: The buttons for collapsing/expanding sections (INputs, DYNamic, EQ, INSerts, FX sends, FaDeR). The inserts and sends are collapsed in this pic. You see red lights on the collapsed sections on any channel where those sections are in use.chaoticz wrote:Oh I see. Yeah, I've seen it on a 30" screen (I have 3 screens on my studio machine, 1x30", 2x20", 4960x1600 total). I personally have no problem with the size... smaller rack means more space for the sequencer window and more devices visible along the vertical axis.By Propaheadz style I've ment the rack not the sequencer. Have you ever seen how cool it looks on a 30"? You can't see shit there without a magnifying glass.
Reason's window layout is more of a problem if you have less than 1600 pixels horizontal because then you can't have the rack and the sequencer side by side, they have to overlap or be in one window with fixed width dictated by the rack.
That's not an issue in Record since you can drag the window out to any size you want, or detach the mixer and the rack and spread the whole thing over up to 3 screens. And then there are the F5/F6/F7 keys for fast switching between mixer, rack and sequencer view. You can press them in combinations, too... e.g. hit F5+F7 simultaneously and get a 50/50 split view of mixer+sequencer. Once you get the hang of it it's really navigable... navigationable... navigeerable... navi... navigabulisticable-astic?

So hang on, you're saying that for $629 you don't just get the SSL emulation...?blank/diod wrote: Well let's see.

Yeah, looks like the perfect mixer for the novice user, that wants a simple and easy to use, hassle free recording program, as hyped in all the ad material so far.blank/diod wrote:

Yeah, "sadly" all those "redundant" items come with the SSL emulation, but if you're that bothered by "bloatware" you can skip Reason and just buy Record. "Unfortunately" you will still get the elastic audio tracks, but if you hit F5 to bring up the mixer you'll hide all those "pesky" "extras" and have just the mixer across your screen.headquest wrote:So hang on, you're saying that for $629 you don't just get the SSL emulation...?
You really also get recording of MIDI and - unlimited- audio tracks? And 8 software instruments including the fantastic THOR synth and a fully featured sampler? And a decent suite of effects for mixing and mastering? And a comprehensive sample library too? Plus groove manipulation, rock solid midi timing, next-generation timestretch....
Holy crap![]()
"Hopefully" the audio tracks, instruments and FX will be removed in the future so that they (and users) can concentrate on just the mixer.
