could you clarify the "free updates" for the group buyers? free updates of any new instruments added to SP? free udates for how long? lifetime?

Well, one free update of about 1 gigabyte of additional sounds give or take. Actually I am not even sure those additional sounds will be included or an extra bonus but either way if you were in the group buy then you'll get those for free so there's at least something extra as promised. I have no control whether there is a nifty GUI in SPK future but I will tell you that IK would need to sell a bunch as a library first and if they see some action then they might just do it... especially when a few more developments are done to the software that might just suit the concept better... and that's all I can say about that!

We're going to be releasing some titles with IK very soon and this is one of them. But a few things have to be done first. I am trying to wrap that up so maybe two products can be released with IK in June from us including SPK. We'll see. I'll keep you guys posted.

Duke Nukem 2 was released in 1993. You're thinking of Duke Nukem Forever. Maybe next time that'll work out a touch better. See Squids' long post about working as a sound company with partner companies for detailed info on the delay.

Forever is right. Haven't bought anything since the group buy where they announced the forthcoming release of Studiophonik.

Dont care if they are only cosmetic difference. Wont buy anything else until its done.

When its ready should be announced the week of release; not years and years. ( and yes the Studiophonik blurbs go back that far)

Well, you guys got an amazing deal on that Studiophonik prelude sound set AND you're getting an exclusive gigabyte of extra material this Summer. I know SPK itself is an odd one and had been originally announced years ago. But we make hundreds of products and this one just had a strange off/on/off/on course between SR and IK. We're sorry about that and the group buy was a way to make up for anyone who had been waiting for these type of sounds and really wanted them (also for a great deal!). We did our best given that a product like this was not completely in our control since we're not the only ones involved. If it was up to me it would have all sorts of things (including an interface) but that part is not up to me. We just do the sounds, not the software.

Anyway, I can't see how anyone who joined that GB can complain about the value and it definitely makes no sense to me why someone would want to deprive themselves of other great sounds just to make a point of principle. But to each his own I guess. For me, I buy whatever products serve my musical creativity and that's all I am concerned about. I don't deprive myself of them because I disapprove of a product being announced years too early. Mistakes and changes can happen in production. We make a lot of products, not all of them go exactly as planned.

Squids. For those who were unable to take part in the Prelude group, but purchase the retail release......will we have access tot he bonus sounds as well or do we get pigeon crap on our shoulder????? I know...I over-dramatize things. But seriously, are we left out???? Just asking.

You won't be left out. But it may cost you more than if you had joined the group buy. But, hey, that is the whole point of the group buy! If it was the same price any time then why would anyone jump to join? That's what we mean when we say it's a window. Gotta get in when it is on offer - if it is something you want.


We're working on a June group buy for something new though right now. It complements Studiophonik actually.

We're done with the drums but still working on the guitars and basses. We may have missed the window for this month but it should be next month if not. That said, we might have the extra sounds available sooner for you guys who were in the GB but I am speaking of when the "official" library will be released by IK to the general ST using public.
