Hello.
Having recently built a new Daw, I decided to go with Vista 64bit running Cubase 5 32bit.
All my old projects & plugins still run just fine, and there's a lot more CPU (and a little more ram) to play with.
Of course, I have also been looking at when I will be able to "Go the whole way" (64bit host & Plugins).. and was pleasantly surprised just how many of my most used plugins are already there...
My most used plugins...(most used first)
RMIV / RMV
Voxengo FX
Z3ta+
Halion3
Dimension Pro
Sylenth
MiniMonsta
Rapture
Aether
Albino3
Octopus
Of the above, the Voxengo stuff is being done (1/3 of the ones I rely on are done) - Surprisingly Zeta, DimPro & Rapture all done,Sylenth Done, Halion3 imminent, MiniMonsta, unknown... LinnPlug Stuff.........
Well, worryingly a forum search for 64bit, or 64 bit yealds ZERO results .. so I thought I should ask .. What's afoot Peter ??

Actually we haven paid much attention to it. We've been on the Vista train very early ... and no one asked for vista compatibility. Now some people ask for native 64 bit plugins, which give a bit of perfomance increase, so we probably do this till the end of the year. I was suprised to see that our stuff runs well in Cubase 64 right as it is and haven notices any serious performance problem, so I admit I not felt its urgend at all.

Well the reason I asked, is because I have just built a new PC with Vista 64 as my OS.
I am running Cubase 32bit for now, and everything is running just fine.
I have been "playing" with Cubase 64bit in my spare time.
Whenever I tried loading any projects that contain RMIV or RMV the PC just freezes.
I tried new empty projects too .. just loading in both RMIV and RMV and the same thing .. lockup.
Under Cubase 5 32 bit all ok
Under Cubase 5 64 bit no go.
It seems that both RMIV & RMV hate the steinberg bit-bridge .. on this PC at least.
(they are not alone in this respect !!)
Are you certain that RMV has been seen to work under Cubase 5 64 bit ??
Tell me so again - and I will spend a few more hours fiddling with it !!
Also important to me are Albino,& Octopus...

After further testing... Vista 64, Cubase 5 64 :: (32 bit plugins via bitbridge)...
Albino3:Loads & sort of works, but any touch of the GUI causes a 30sec lockup
Cronox3:Works OK
Octopus:Works OK
RMIV:Crashes Host
RMV:Crashes Host
Others:(fyi)
Minimonsta:Works, but slow loading sounds
NI Stuff:B4, Epno, Pno, Pro55 : All OK
Aether Reverb:Not an instrument, an effect, but also causes host to crash
Z3ta, Rapture, Sylenth, TruePianos are all 64bit already, and all work fine.
Hope others can maybe verify this ? and if so, I hope you rethink how "Urgent" this is

Obviously with the newest CPU's and O.S.'s being 64 bit , you're going to have to do it sometime peter ; But I have no personal experience as to the potential speed benifits this could afford ,
and
I would rather the fine folks at LinPlug give
octopuss
a loving update !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your support !!
Actually, it's not speed, as such, that bothers me .. I've never heard that going 64 bit will increase speed or sound quality .. rather it's the almost infinite MEMORY that becomes available, once everything is 64bit compatible.
Surely, that's worth fighting for (especially as RMV loads ALL its samples into Ram !!)

Strangely all our instruments work fine under Vista 64 and Cubase 5 64 bit HERE, however, I have at least one other customer with very slow GUI upon loading Albino.
Will dive deeper into this soon.
