Hi,
May I suggest something that will make me buy Cantabile immediatly ?
I now this feature is not the purpose of a midi/vst host sequencer, but it would be a great tool for learning music: I'm talking about a chord analyzer.
That feature would work like: you type in the key of your song, and while you play your keyboard through your favorite vsti it displays the name of the chords you are playing... or displays the notes of a melody you are playing on a score.
Feature Request

Indeed that seems not to be the goal of Cantabile...
...but maybe you can find a plugin that does what you want?
Other than that the virtual keyboard shows what notes you are playing.
Interpreting cords however is a complex thing when you think apart from obvious cases... you should consider learning these anyway anytime. Any if you do it as a hobby there is no need to hurry... and you will always find new things - maybe even professionals do all their life even they know so much more.
Finally I personally think let your ears decide and don't worry too much about theory...
...and most important of all: Keep the fun alive when making music!

Have you tried looking for a plugin that does this? I'd be surprised if something doesn't already exist.elephant stone wrote:I now this feature is not the purpose of a midi/vst host sequencer, but it would be a great tool for learning music: I'm talking about a chord analyzer.

No I tried ChordSpace, ChordMe, various other things but not a plug that analyzes the incoming midi notes in a given key.
