That kind of plugins is meant to be subtle - unfortunately most are not subtle enough imho.
In the golden analog days people were striving to get clean signals mostly, not routinely distorting everything as seems to be frequently the case nowadays.
For that you can find lots of better suited FX elsewhere.
Selectively putting subtle saturation on channels, better groups and, even more subtly, on the stereo bus can help bring out all those desirable qualities already described in a mix, small things do add up.
The way I see it, with that kind of FX you should only notice something's missing when you bypass them, the moment you hear obvious distortion it's probably too much already.
Another great addition to Bootsie's repertoire, and the unique transient feature gives us another much needed level of control.
Many thanks to Bootsie and Patrick !

Well, IMHO you gotta always check saturating plugins on channels versus ob busses. Anything non-linear would introduce intermodulation distortion that may muddy things, or add glue if you're lucky.
Personally I prefer adding some dirt on tracks and then, just a little, on the 2-buss.

I still wish bootsie would release just the saturtion stage from BootEQ mkII as individual plugin, even though it's low on CPU, but sometimes I'd just love to use that one to "color" the sound a bit. Sure is a different (may I dare saying) "saturation routine" than the Nasty Series.

Then again, I'm sure this won't be the last plugin from that engineering tool smithy.

Often I simply ignore the eq section just for the overdrive. But the eq gets more and more use here, too.

i still wish he would make booteq compatible with higher samplerates...
c'mon bootsie...pretty plz :D

Post

afaik only the "original" one is compatible with 44kHz and 48kHz. The new one should be compatible with higher samplerates.

Then again, you work with 4x oversampling internally in the saturation stage - do you really need 96kHz or even higher? We're not at times where we can release stuff at 48+kHz to normal listeners unless we talk BlueRay in the audio realm.

I'm fine with 48kHz.

*whoops - guess I started "that" discussion again*

i was talking about the eq section, not the saturation section. eq section is limited to 48k max

Thanks, for that. You're the gooderest! :tu:
I've got nothing to sell...am I on the right site?

+1 for higher samplerate support with booteq!

Thanks to all the feedback and comments on TesslaPRO here. In addition to the explanations already made here about the TP effects there is a nice short review by a gearslut which imho pretty much nails it http://www.gearslutz.com/board/4218638-post10.html and some more motivation on this plug-in concept was already given in my blog.

have fun,

i just love the bass knob :). it puts a smile on my face every time i use it.
and about the ripple thingy, well it can be controlled by using the either drive or the boost knob or a combination of both... i am soo happy.

a MASTERSTROKE by bootsie

So I'm curious: is this plug-in doing anything in its default state, or do you have to change the settings first?

Congrats btw. LOVE the new look!
