hi everyone,
i really would love to know what synth to use to get a similar bass sound used by deep dish in their remix of sandy b "you make the world go around" clip here: its got a really phat, warm, gravelly sound to it. any ideas? many thanks in advance for any help.

I think it's a combo of an organ that has been tweaked (probably filtered) and a nice round Pulse bass with lots of resonance to get the popping fretless bass sound on those high notes

If you listen carefully you can hear the organ sounding part isn't on the higher notes, only the deep low ones, and every 16 or 32 the deeper bass hits one note by itself without the organ tone.

You never know, it could be a very well tuned single sound, but I really reckon it's a two-layer job.

have a listen to this track for what I mean by the PWM Fretless bass sound

from 1m30s onwards

to my ear it just sounds like a basic organ patch from an FM synth played in a low register, maybe with a little warm distortion and reverb on the FX... this is basically comprised of a moderate to low number of sine partials. Go into some synths and look for a "hammond B3" or "organ patch" and play it down low, see how it sounds.

There is a clean sample of this sound in Michelle Gayle - Do You Know. You just need to find the wave cycle and loop it with a sampler.

I have actually just remade this sound in Serum by copying the wave cycle from the michelle gayle sample 👍🏼

All you need is a saw with a high resonance filter with key-tracking on. Set the cut-off to where you hear the right harmonic pop up.
