For the record, that part of your post was punctuated correctly. It got misquoted for comedic effect.
Sooo... how 'bout that Record thingy? Or cute kitten pictures, recipes, whatever.

Do not mock Pricks, they make excellent cookies.

Unfortunately, Swedish gingerbread manufacturer Pricks didn't do well in the English speaking world. I couldn't imagine why.

Another Swedish company, Locum, sent out this Xmas greeting to all their partners and customers without noticing what the modified logo actually read...

Yeah... dumbasses. Couldn't they have replaced the "U" with the heart instead, seeing as it's at least vaguely the same shape? Loc+heart+M can't possibly be obscene in any language. OK, maybe French but it's pretty offensive by default.LawrenceF wrote:Oh my god that's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.![]()

Since the thread's spiralled out of recognition anyway -- Fred, do you by any chance know where I can find an authentic Swedish pepparkakor recipe? I haven't any experience with the Real Thing and wouldn't know how to tell "That's not right, it's been Americanized here and here; that's too much of this, and you have to add this and that or they're not pepparkakor." Preferably in English, or simple and short enough that I can figure it out using a dictionary.

Hmmmmm.... we usually buy ready-made "pepparkaksdeg", but this recipe looks pretty authentic:Meffy wrote:Since the thread's spiralled out of recognition anyway -- Fred, do you by any chance know where I can find an authentic Swedish pepparkakor recipe? You can also add some cognac or calvados for an extra kick.
Christer Fuglesang, the only Swede to go into space, brought pepparkakor as a gift to his fellow ESA astronauts. Unfortunately the ginger snaps were smashed to pieces, so they had to zip around aboard Discovery and eat the free floating crumbs, like some oversized goldfish.
Not sure if you can get hold of Glögg, though (or glühwein, as the Germans call it). Another Xmas thingy where we for some reason decided to use the entire spice rack... it's something resembling red wine spiced up with ginger, cloves, cardemom and cinnamon... you heat it up and plop in some almond and raisins.

Excellent, thank you muchly. Glad to hear Sweden managed to commit a bit of (tasty) mischief in space. :-}
I'm not a fan of wine but given sufficiently cold winter weather (it's been unusually warm the past few years) might be convinced, especially if I could reduce unused wine to stable, easily stored syrup. Thanks for that idea too. *salute*
[edit] Ah -- measurements done American-style, using volume units. That's convenient, I won't have to bother with density calculations.

I'm loving these new details posted in the Record Blog:
- Soft Keyboard... that's right, you can trigger your various Reason devices with the new onboard keys with the mouse OR playing the qwerty keyboad of your computer - on the plane, at stoplights, waiting for the hairdresser... you WILL make more music!
- Audition Notes in Edit Mode... looking for another cymbal to use on that beat? Doing a little note correction on that piano part? Now when you move an event to another note, you will hear the sound and immediately know what's happening.
- Xplode... this new feature let's you split out drum parts into separate lanes (one sound per lane) for individual editing, Regroove processing, etc. This lets you loop record a rhythm track and split it up later - another example of capturing ideas by jammin and sorting it later.
- Move Notes Between Clips... instead of having to Join clips just to move things around in Edit Mode, now you can move or copy events between clips. So now instead of having to commit totally to a continuous linear track model just to move things around easily, you can stay in multi-clip mode and edit with complete flexibility.
- Smarter Cable Revealing/Hiding... instead of the all on/all off cable viewing, there's now a transparency system that let's you easily see the cables you're interested in, while still showing the others (transparently) - and you can read jack labels thru them!
- Glow Reveals Selected Track... once your Song gets loaded up with tracks, channels and devices, it can be hard to keep track of what's where. This feature helps a lot by giving you feedback about your selection or what you've just created. For example, select a track in the sequencer and see the same mixer channel glow - so it's easy to get there and tweak the sound.
- Sort Selected Device Groups... devices with relationships or dependencies, like a synth with an effect or two, now stay together when you move them so it's easier to keep track of the connections.
- Scroll To Connected Device... another great way of navigating those enormous projects. When you select a sequencer track, both mixer and rack will scroll to the appropriate device, and similarly selecting a mixer channel will scroll the sequencer to the right track, etc
- Optimized Loading... smarter loading procedures help get your Song up and ready to go faster. Really noticeable when using those Propellerhead Hypersampled Refills.

WOOHOO, I'm really looking forward to this. I learned the basics on ReBirth and Reason but have switched to FL (and dabbled with Live) because of various reasons. Record looks like the ticket though. Time must move slower in Sweden, because I thought this is what would have been in Reason 4, but at least its finally coming.
If you can't tell, I'm super hyped about this

I just checked out the Prop heads sight....
I know, I've been swamped with things, and first caught a glimpse of this now....
any ways..
This looks awesome. I love Live, I really do, but sometimes methinks ableton's summing leaves a lot to be desired. I'm definitely checking out, "record," when it cums....
