D N A, I, for one, would really like the option for switching the behavior when changing presets. I like to balance my presets in volume, and I like when there's no patch-changing gap, this way I cannot have any problems when switching presets. Some people like it otherwise, though. But, if you can make that behaviour user-switchable, it would be killer!

What about updating you PC ? Even on older machines XP runs faster than W98.
A late answer to tell you that what you are saying is not true at all.

I have tested ME and XP in a virtual machine with the same settings. XP is appalingly slow compared to ME. ME boots in 20s, XP in more than 2 minutes. Launching Notepad, nearly instant on ME, several seconds on XP, etc...

Just so you are aware of it and you use another argument next time.

But thanks for the suggestion anyway

How valid are these "benchmarks" if tested with virtual machines? I'd think that the results would be different when tested on actual hardware, no? Correct me if i'm wrong.

I can't believe I didn't discover this thread earlier, these machine went completely over my head. Can't wait to get home and try these out!

Well, it is about their tears. The phase just before the sorrow of being excluded from heaven turns into rage and transform them to servants of hell.

..well, actually I just thought that the melody had a touch of sorrow and that the titel sounded cool. :D

Thank you for your explanation.

Tested all, deleted all.

Tested Tapeotronic, deleted Tapeotronic?! :P :)
At what sample rate did you test them? (just curious)

Don't want to drift off topic too much, but quickly, I have tested not only ME and XP but also 95, NT4, 98SE and 2000, all fresh installs with no tweaks and the oldest, 95 and NT4, are the fastest to operate with 95 faster than NT4, then you've got the 98SE, ME and 2000 group with 2000 being somewhat slower than the two others. Finally there is XP which appears much slower than all of them. What the testing seems to indicate is that each generation of OSes is slower than the previous with the 9x ones being a tad faster than the NT ones within the same generation. Seems rather consistant to me. Why I have tested under virtualization is because it is much easier and also because the virtualization slows everything down, differences in speed are made more obvious.

Good for you and your hard drive!

I'm keeping them though. :D

Very true - in fact, I'm about to do the same

Another nice one! Again, I love the mix of vintage and modern feel
Maybe we could cooperate on something next fall/winter?
Hskovlund wrote:I have run out of sensible words to appraise the synths :hail:,

Same here
Hskovlund wrote:And @D N A: Thanks a lot for hosting this project and fixing the synths. :tu: When the most important things are done, I hope you will look into the Ocet's lack of patch recall, including tempo settings. Apart from that, I have not had any problems running the synths in Orion.
I have the same problem in cubase - it remembers any modifications I make to the sounds, but forgets the rhythms. I've found a way to work around it, but it'd be a lot easier if the whole thing could be saved with the project. And thanks again, can't say it enough times :)

Here's track no 4, inspired by a very scary and disturbing film called "Session 9" set in an asylum:

for this one I went back to my Berlin School origins, so if you don't like the genre don't bother to listen, it'd bore you to tears...

Could be cool. I have never tried to co-op on the internet before and it is about 15 years since I last was in a "band", so I am all solo and open minded! :)

Thanks for feedback! I like the retro vibes in your tunes too.

OK, that's a deal, then :) We'll have to wait till the end of summer because of my day job, and you will definitely have to remind me (you know my memory, right? ;-) ) but I think we'll accomplish something good, seems to me our styles and approaches are kind of complementary :)

Ok, I am in and I will remind you. Was just across your site and boy: You have not been on the lazy side with respect to making music! :o

I also fancy making electronical music in odd signatures and like to experiment with polyrythmics. Here are some links to two tracks in the music cafe, if you are interested. You are of course welcome to drop by and leave a comment or an advice, if you can distract yourself from the synths at hand, that is. :hihi:

The first one needs a remaster (too much compression) and the second needs some modifications for purpose of variation.

All the Best

Edit: Sorry for the OT good folks! Now where were we? ....Oh yes: Have anyone noticed how great these synths are?
