It's still v1.0.11 and has been for a while. The new v1.0.12 is taking slightly longer than expected because I have to re-write the entire delivery system and copy protection key generation in php. This will be how the final web page delivers individual binaries to everyone.sureno wrote:whats the latest version atm?
New in v1.0.12:
* Re-written vst io negotiations and buffer management (I replaced all the Juce framework code now with my own hopefully bullet proof version). This will hopefully fix some nagging issues with Cubase 4
* Improved timer code (another fix to Juce)
* Improved redraw on Mac (a fix to the way I was using Juce)
* Au support for params with units so default editors work much better
* Au support for multiple io configs mono and stereo with external sidechain, was previously just stereo
* Presets
* Manual
All these additions will hopefully be the final fixes needed for release. All customers will receive an email with download links as soon as I get the new automated distribution system up and working on the server

I can't be arsed to read all and didn't think I needed another compressor.
Is this the bees knees? How does it compare to Marquis which is my main compressor?

I was demoing a handful of compressors along with The Glue (including Marquis) and thought The Glue did a better job of making my drum tracks thump and smack - it seemed like the other compressors I tried were making the drums sound more squashed and have less impact. I was sold pretty quick. I'm using The Glue on drums, bass, and various other things now.Armadillo wrote:124 pages and counting![]()

Thanks guys.
I can't afford $99 on something like a compressor atm. so unless it's seriously better than Marquis I'll probably give it a miss.
That said, I might give the demo a go. I probably won't be able to tell much difference anyway, but let's see.

I own both and have used both for some time know, I'd say the Glue is smoother but is still a way off the marquis when it comes to that aggressive smack sound - it can sound overdriven in a really good way! Even though it can reduce transients to pulp, it oddly almost sounds better that way - really brutal "block rocking beats" style.Armadillo wrote:Thanks guys.

I own both and use The Glue a lot more, so if that means it's "seriously better" than Marquis, than yes, I think it is. Marquis is alright, I just don't use it much anymore. Maybe it's one of those things that has too many options and isn't very inspirational because of it or maybe it's the boring GUI (or both), but with The Glue gets me what I need within a few seconds of loading it up.Armadillo wrote:I can't afford $99 on something like a compressor atm. so unless it's seriously better than Marquis I'll probably give it a miss.

Now, the two are VERY different sounding, don't get me wrong on that. Marquis can distort a drum bus in ways The Glue can't, and therefore Marquis can be a better effect. But The Glue is just more useful overall IMO. Either way, if you can afford $99 you'd be remiss to skip on The Glue. There's few compressors that good at that price.

Isn't the Glue trying to emulate a SSL Bus Compressor? So why compare it to anything but a real SSL?Epiphany wrote:I own both and have used both for some time know, I'd say the Glue is smoother but is still a way off the marquis when it comes to that aggressive smack sound - it can sound overdriven in a really good way! Good point and well made. I found it odd that people were comparing the sound of The Glue to 1176 models earlier on as well, to me that's like saying you prefer the sound of a boesendorfer over a fender strat.electro wrote:Isn't the Glue trying to emulate a SSL Bus Compressor? Marquis also attempts to emulate an SSL (T3 mode if I'm not mistaken) so the comparison is valid. The two sound nothing alike, but the intent (or inspiration at least) was still there.andy_cytomic wrote:Good point and well made.
