Angelina: can't save ...

I'm having this small problem: since a short time ago I started getting the funny message 'saving disabled in unregistered version"; the thing is that I registered Angelina when I bought it back in 2003, and it always worked fine. The only reason I can see is that my main daw is an outdated one and now I'm working mainly in my notebook; I have all my music software and projects in an external drive, and so I just unplugged it from one computer and plugged into the other one. I suspect that the registration data can be somewhere in the registry, in the old computer only. I still have the registration key, but the problem is that I don't have the original installation files. Can a new instalation be made from the demo + activation key? I don't remember anymore...

This is a nasty bug that sadly enough never got fixed up to now. My workaround (as nobody answered, I hope you solved the problem of finding the original data!) is to make a preset called with my serial number I have for Angelina 1.3. So whenever I get this error I just load this fxp-file and well, for a short time Angelina stays registered...:(.

My workaround is to play with Angelina, which is a great vsti, and save the result as wav or in Reaper as flac or whatever. Works nice, and doesn't take away the inspiration if you have an idea for your song, but have to re-register Angelina first and sometimes forget the idea :(.

This is the reason I seldom use Angelina, love the way it sounds but hate the PITA.

I didn't solve the problem yet and so far the only "workaround" has been to render it to wav.

No one at Big Tick looks at this forum?

Bigtick does, and is a superbly friendly developer - and he said he'd fix the bug. Seems other things came in between.

Yes, bobsled, I hear ya :). But the "registering with your preset" workaround is quite fast, once you're used to it :D. I have the file in a folder, open it inside my host with "folderguide" (incredibly useful tool for quite a lot of computer-things) - and am done. At least for a while :hihi:

Yes I do check the forums. And I hate leaving a bug unfixed, like all developers out there. The strange thing is, I have never been able to reproduce the problem on my system. And the code is simple enough, maybe I'm thick but I can't see what's wrong. If anyone could describe the exact steps leading to the problem, this may help...

As I mentioned I get a message of "saving disabled" on Angelina (and Angelina FX) every time I save a project, and it happens since I moved the external hard drive where I have my VST/i's to another computer. I admit that it can result from some kind of security check, but in that case I want to reinstall it in my new computer.

I don't remember anymore how the install was done, but if there was some kind of install I can do it again because I still have the license (and the email I received when I bought it, also the code for the users page, which I used to download Angelina FX). All I need is an install program, if ever there was one (wich I don't remember for sure but I assume there was); or if there is any way to make both programs, or only Angelina ask for the license key again...

To "replicate" the problem (a sort of) I suppose you can save the Angelina folder to another location, remove it with the "remove programs" from the Control Panel, then copy the folder back to the previous location. I suspect that now you'll get a similar message; if so, the question now is how can we reinstall Angelina properly?

Of course if you uninstall it through the control panel, then the uninstaller will forget everything, including your stored serial. That's what an uninstaller should do, remove every trace of the program... Then of course, Angelina will complain the next time you try to save...

The thing is, now it's in a different computer. How can I reinstall/insert serial?

just paste the serial in the preset area.

Haven't been able to replicate the bug over these last few days.

I'll keep trying, would like to help if I could. And thanks, Klemperer, for your "registering with your preset" tip.

Sorry to say I have for years now been plagued with this one and probably once a week maybe two have to cut and paste the unlock code into angelina. Even on a completely new laptop it was not long before this happened.

Try running two instances of it. On my system it gives the error every time you do this.

BigTick, why not just rewrite the licence part of the code, and instead of the registry entry, have the plugin check a folder (install folder or vsti folder, whichever) for a licence file.

Well I guess this bug is now a thing from the past :)
