Hey Guys...I have released what we originally wrote to be the test bed for the acoustic modeler. Its called Tribe and you can get it here..
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 39#3597139
It has many other uses other than acoustic modeling, which I can't say thats what it is, it just allows you to experiment with your own IR's. However there is a guy over at guitarampmodeling.com that created an acoustic IR and when teamed with Tribe(our amp) is the most convincing I've heard yet. It has shown us that we can get the high range needed for acoustic model. We need to work something out for the lower frequencies. If you want to get that IR it is in the news section of GAM. You should check that out..
Actually, here is the post...

Very nice, though there's definitely a pb with the low end.

Hey what about a soft that would combine pitching the guitar down an octave and an impulse that would fake a bass guitar the same way (to get rid of some of the wobbly (is that the proper term?) sound) ?

Post

cheul...Thats something we have already almost built, its called GhettoBass. I have not released it because I have some latency issues I have not been able to resolve. But once those are resolved we'll release it. Funny thing too, one of our testers(Smudge) was using it and managed to get it to sound like a Sitar!
Here's the thread to the Sitar Posting, off topic but interesting none the less..

Haven't read all the thread but have listened to the first demo song. Excellent!!! I hope you will get there.

Thanks Bronx...Love that area too!

Excuse me laziness (I'm slowly following through the pages of the thread) but where are you in terms of the software development? I must say that it sounds VERY promising to me.

Post

Well first for sure, I am not the originator of this thread, I only took the project on when it was said to be abandoned. Having said that I have created a test bed VST for which users can experiment with creating IR files to load into it. This is in the hopes that someone can come up with a technique for which to create them. That AMP was released I think last week to the general public called Tribe. So far we have not really gotten very much as far as usable IR files.

There is more information on this development and all our other developments at

Thanks for your interest

Ok I see. Thanks for the reply. If you are the guy behind www.acmebargig.com I'd like to take the opportunity and say THANK YOU.
Pickup replacer thing is really GREAT!!!

Any chance to continue that Electric 2 Acoustic Sim?

Post

One question about Pickup replacer though, I find this always intriguing trying to fix/change the sound after it is captured by acting on the very stage of capture itself... I mean how can you get frequencies that simply are not present from the beginning ? Do people with stock pick-ups really get the chuggah-chuggah from an EMG-81 ?

Post

Well, from what I have heard they do, and you have a great point, but in a scenario like that we also have the material section to rely on as well. So that also adds some enhancement. I know that we tested that with an old lipstick and it seemed to work. Allbeit, it would have worked better with a HB to begin with because some frequencies can only be boosted so much, and taken away so much..
Good point and question..

I just did some further research and I'm convinced that Using IR files is not the end to modelling an acoustic. We have about 4,000 people using Tribe, and we still have not got a decent IR file that models an acoustic. So...

Spending a lot of time working to enhance the sound of an IR cab and through this I want to take an IR file read its contents and then apply the average eq of that IR to the CabEnhancer to emulate the IR. So, this will be an important development as it will allow us the ability to remove sibilants and change the higher order waves on the fly...Without the Extra memory and cpu usage.

We'll see what we come up with here..

Well I plan to get back to the Acoustic modeling very soon. I have just been crazy busy with Web Site hacks and the up coming release of DIG 2.5. As well as our weekly releases. So, I'll get back to it, I just have other stuff I'm doing ATM..

Hey Guys, just an update, picture and a demo...

I have what I think is a really close Acoustic model, I'm not totally satisfied with it, but I just wanted to let you all know that I have not abandoned this idea. Its just that it is very complex..
Anyways here's the picture

And here's the demo of what we've got so far...I also recorded single string tones at the end..
