Thanks for that Tattie, I'm fine actually - as the very lush rats on their star have demonstrated (great title), Crystal falls either into a smooth almost romplerish bracket or something a bit more unusual.

Me being me, I'll stick with the unusual and the limitations of my set up. It's more fun for me that way.

Of course, I could also be plain lazy... :hihi:

Thanks again for your kind advice.

Just about done with the "main" track now. Some mixing and stuff will be done and after that it goes to the upload folder. I'm currently on 8 instances of crystal :o . No cpu problems playing, it rarely goes over 30% usage (I have 4GB RAM). It DOES take 3 minutes for FL studio to open up the project though  :hihi: Not even the biggest sample libraries does that!!

I still don't like my kick drum though

Lookin' forward to hearing some more fine submissions to this competition. I'm too new to electronic music making to make/submit anything worthwhile, but of all the VSTs that came with my Receptor, Crystal has always intrigued me, so I'm interested in hearing more of it. Provocative presents and lots of potential IMHO. And I like the fact that it seems to be a synth that is a bit of a challenge to use.

Anyway, I just want to offer up some encouragement to all of you on your submissions. Good luck and have fun!

(Now then, where's my guitar.....?)

All done!
Track has been uploaded to the contest folder - it's called Crystal-Lized
:)

Great stuff K-Bee .... look forward to giving it a listen :)

Hope to get mine finished in the next couple of days ... need to make the time to get that prize Vst knocked into shape!

Have to shoot off for a gig soon, so I'll catch you all tomorrow .... keep those tracks coming! .... still 11 days to go! :)

I'm a rock guitar player guy and not really an electronic music guy so much and I'll still be giving it a stab - go on and submit something! :) Oh and I totally forgot that Crystal was on the Receptor! I'll have Uniwire a few more instances into my host if I run out of power mwahahaha

Well gee, buscemi, maybe I will just see if I can work something up that isn't too embarrassing! And I think your Uniwire idea is a good one for giving you some extra power, especially since you are obviously bent on world domination, what with your evil laugh and everything! :D

Good stuff batgab, I think its safe to say that we do our tracks for the fun of it rather than anything else, so just have fun and see what you come up with! :)

I've uploaded my track, Uncut, to the 4Shared folder.

I've gone for a dubstep feel - all those delays in Crystal gotta get used for something, although I had to resort to KingDubby for a couple of bits.

Cheers for the submission Gamma-UT, great stuff, thats four entries, and still 8 days to go!!! Fantastic! :) :tu:

Very nearly finished mine, just have to create and sample a couple of drum sounds as an alternative to repitching samples I have already created ... cos I reckon that repitching method changes and manipulates the sound in a way which is not representative of the sound of Crystal, and would therefore be cheating!

Anyway, while I'm here, for those of you who know the rules and cant be bothered going to page 1 for the comp hosting file link, here it is..

Well, I've very nearly got that Multifreeze plug finished, dunno if I'll have time to do a particularly nice skin for it though .... we'll see.
Hoped to post a screenshot, but unfortunately mediafire is farting me about at the moment.
I decided against doing the multi freeze version in stereo ... it selects whether source is from the left, right or both, so I thought it best to have the option of either mono ( with stereo out ) or two instances .... which is basically what a stereo version would consist of anyway.

Anyway, I will release a stereo version with greater LFO options, so when participants recieve their multi freeze plug, they will have a choice of three quite different versions of 'RepRat' to choose from ( whereas the rest of the world will have only two! ).

OK, here it is ..... I'll write up some instructions before I give it out .... believe me, you'll need them :hihi:
