Long time ago anounced, I finally solved some problems (note drops) and so my stringmachine will come after some more tweaks and the GUI design.
Here is a first MP3 demo:
www.service-1.de/music/stringsynth-demo1.mp3
This VSTi has an octave devider design for that "synced" sound. It is not an exact copy of a vintage machine but will have some options to tweak like filter and chorus settings to be adjustable to many sounds (but still easy to use).
More here in one or two weeks or on my site.

yol - very autenthic - reminds me of my old Crumar Multiman S. I can't wait
to put my hands on this....

Will take some time. The sound is still not authentic enough, I'll need a smallstone phaser and I don't have a GUI yet.

I have a real,bashed,but working Solina,with some missing knobs etc,and
I compared it to Elektrostudio eSLine, and I have to say that you dont need
to be closer than that, and to be dead on,ad the Tessla Pro on the output.

Just my personal opinion

sellmestory, does your real working Solina have the same long weird too-logarythmic attack as in eSLine? (Note, eSLine doesn't exert real paraphonic behavior, I guess it needs a fix for that, I hope DNA is on it.)

Sounds nice.

I've heard people criticise the sample-based approach for realism, so I'd be interested to hear people's comments on how close you're getting in comparison to VSM and this Reaktor Ensemble:

WOK

What is that effect on the sound?

I dont seem to have anything like that on my Solina.
Is it an effect in your VSTi.

The sound is really close, but I cant really tell because of the effect.

Chorus (Modulation) and Phaser (JMJ used the Smallstone)

Samples can never catch the spirit of stringmachines or transistor organs. First, the chorus can not be sampled with each note, and important for the sound character is the octave divider circuit, causing all notes to be wave synced.
The Reaktor Ensemble (no samples) is the best I've ever heard.

Hello WOK,
The sound in your second demo was very nice. I preferred it to the sound of first one which had a very 'nasal' sound to it.

Now for some constructive criticism. The emulation that I like the best so far (disregarding those using samples) is the Solina one built for Reactor which I'm sure you've probably heard. When I played the demo mp3 I really thought the guy had posted a clip of Oxygene for a few seconds.

Now, to my ears, apart from the string sound itself, the main things that makes that one stand out above the others is the quality of the phaser. He really has got the JM Jarre phaser sound perfected. If you listen to it, as the phaser 'rises', it takes away the 'fizziness' of the string sound, and as it falls it returns. You get a sort of breathing effect to the sound.

I reckon that if you had your string sound from the second demo going through his phaser and of course the delay on the opposite side which is part of the JM Jarre sound, then yours would be very close indeed.

Actually, if you're thinking of posting another demo it would be nice to hear it without the phaser effect as well if you get time.

Sounds good anyway.

He used the stock NI phaser that came with R5. The Kleinstein phaser, present on the Equinoxe reaktor ensemble.
