the filter sounds really good!!
I noticed as well!
I still think v-station sounds much better. Even its very old. Their filters are superb. Also Karmafx synth and Rob Papen Predator got nice filters. So again, this synth gets too much hype.. It's just synth with bad filters and bad sound.. Dont even wait that demo

The v-station is indeed a brilliant piece of software however why do you think largo has bad filters?
Have you got largo and v-station side by side to compare? or are you just reading all the hype/shite on here?
There's always some who will either love a piece of software or hate it :)

A quick end to the debate here would be to either buy it or don't buy it..how simple is that.
At least if you did buy it and did'nt like it you can sell it without the need for MUPPET transfer fees at silly prices that most developers charge for something that can usually be sorted between the buyer/seller.

I'll have largo tommorrow and im happy im getting it..im sure it can't be as bad as some are saying..
I think most people are just pissed that there's no demo but that's just tough shit coz there must be a reason for there not being one..

If in doubt..stick to what youv'e got it's as simple as.... :D

PS

No offence intended

george freeman wrote:I think EVERYONE interested should write in to Waldorf and ask for a Demo Largo. I maybe wrong but It seems like it would jump start their sales. In fact I just did it myself. Here are my exact words.

I sincerely request that you release a downloadable demo of your software synth Largo. Of course that would mean more work for you but it would increase your sales considerably and that what business is about.

Maybe if many people write in, they may do it. We can make history!!!!!!! LET"S DO IT!!!
I'm surprised there isn't a downloadable regular version of the software. Surely it can't take up that much space? Digital Village and Dolphin in the UK don't stock it either... very strange!

There is no demo coz, then obviously they would have to strip the ilock code out, and then the warez guyz can compare the full version and the demo and see where the ilock code hides, and then the can erase is... so they dont want to provide us with a demo version.

at least its my conspiracy theory :)

I don't think so. VirSyn plugins are synchrosoft-protected too. They offer demos that install limited e-licenses for temporary use.

I think that it's most likely just a lot of programming work to make a proper demo and that it can take a while until they release one.

you need to forget about synths and upgrade your ears first.

as far as a demo, I spent 10X this on a Q without a demo first.
You can hear from the mp3s its a waldorf synth that runs on the CPU..
If thats not enough, your probly not going to buy it anyway.

Other eLicenser-protected synths have demos, and no one has cracked them. If I understand correctly, there's no need to strip any protection from demo version; it is basically the same as full version, but you get only a time-limited license for it.

Demo version is needed not just for sound quality evaluation. With software, you can run into all sorts of compatibility problems. Many plugins have glitches or don't work at all in some particular hosts, especially non-mainstream ones. For example, I've tried Sonivox SoundStage demo recently, and it just refused to work on my system, either throwing it into blue screen or crashing my host - if there wasn't a demo for it, I'd be screwed if I bought it. Before I buy a software plugin, no matter how good it sounds, I need to know for sure that I would be able to actually use it, and there's no other way to test it than to try a demo version.

Quite odd to compare a hardware synth lacking a demo with a software synth which, as pointed out above, can sometimes just refuse to work on a given system...

Yes, software incompatibilities can occasionally be nasty too. I remember when Reaktor 3 nailed my Mac's testicles to the floor: ouch! :-o I've had a Herbert Lom type nervous eye twitch ever since...

Still, I've ordered a Largo blind so I'll see what I've let myself in for tomorrow...
