hi jimi: as you seem quite up on the linux thing, could you spell out
your wisdom thus far on inter-compatibility of plugins/platforms for
linux/windows/vst/ladspa? eg: what can be used with what. guess i'm
being lazy asking without researching it. prob best from the horse's
mouth tho'.
someone here claims to have written a linux app similar to musicmaker,
and unreleased, so waiting to see this. and if it can be ported over
to windows. anyone familiar with compiling linux stuff for win32?
( yeh, wrong thread. nevertheless..)

look here:
http://www.superwavesynths.co.uk/products.htm
current home of superwave P8, and some interesting looking demos.

AFAIK ladspa plugs must be compiled as dll to run in windows.

Post

mztk, ladspa plugs compiled as windows dlls can run under windows in applications that do support them natively (Audacity or LMMS) or in any vst host through the polac ladspa to vst wrapper.

Other than that Audacity supports nyquist plugs which are just text files and those run undifferently under win or linux if I am not mistaken.

Audacity now also supports vamp plugins and just like the ladspa ones they must be compiled for the target platform.

bro, i don't know poo about linnux, i can use a live gui based distro to hack damaged discs, but that's about all i know...

i do know tho that there's a vst-ladspa bridge native to audacity, and you can run most ladspa plugs in audacity under windows.

other than that, i don't know too much, sorry mate.

dude, go look at the audacity site, you can run ladspa plugs in audacity as audacity is cross platform, no compiling needed.

Well if you download the ladspa plugs pack for audacity for windows you'll notice it is full of dlls.
LADSPA Plug-Ins

Audacity has built-in support for LADSPA plug-ins. These plug-ins are mostly built for Linux, but some are available for other operating systems too. Audacity includes some sample LADSPA effects. Windows users can install an additional set of over 90 LADSPA plug-ins. There is a similar set of LADSPA plug-ins for Mac. More information and many LADSPA plug-ins for Linux can be found on the LADSPA web site.

re: shittalker: judging by comments seen while browsing this
stuff, people were having difficulty finding it, so may not be
the original download link +/or(untampered) distro, possibly.
gave it a go a couple of years ago, tho', from some d'l, no probs,
(AFAIK)and its a good laugh. a classic freeware essential.
would be great with a bank of editable trigger pads :)
(edit, it has some user slots. NB:a vst, miditriggered version would
be fun maybe )
