Aye aye, insertpizhere, is someone gonna put all those tracks into a nice handy zip file? ( no point in looking at me!!!) ... if so, and if everyone is OK with that, ( i.e. if no-one can be arsed to object :hihi: ) I am happy to DL the zip, open it and UL the tracks into a hosting folder where they will remain available as an archive/collection .... and of course post the link!

As for presets, yeah, I'm happy to give you any/all of the presets I tweaked/used in my tracks... you might have to explain how I do that, but in principal, consider them shared! :)

Post

ok, i'm uploading a zip file now.

to send me the presets, my preferred way would be to use the "Save Patch" button, and then e-mail them to me (piz@thepiz.org). that would be great.

i'm going to post the "official results" in a few minutes.

here is the zip of all the entries: http://thepiz.org/mralias2/challenge/Mr ... llenge.zip

After a lot of discussion and careful calculations, I'm ready to post the results of the Mr. Alias Challenge.

About the prizes:

The 1st prize is a copy of Mr. Alias Pro. The 2nd prize is also a copy of Mr. Alias Pro. The 3rd prize is a copy of Mr. Alias Pro with minor cosmetic defects. The 4th prize is a professionally cursed copy of Mr. Alias Pro.

Final standings:

1st prize:

for Mr Alias by Ryu
Great song, possibly my favorite of the contest. Disqualified for the use of guitar and vocals. In case you can't understand Japanese, this is what he told me about the lyrics:
ryuuusuke wrote:About the lyrics.
I cannot translate it precisely.
The rough meaning is as follows.

"The world overflows with noises.
Therefore it is difficult to find out a melody.
It is hard to sing, but it is pain to hear too."

It is not a lyric with the great meaning......
utoaom (uninspired torture of an overwhelmed machine) by noizetronic
Great sounds in this one, including some of the best Mr. Alias drum sounds I've heard.

pized by ghola1was
I like how different this is from the other entries. To me this proves that Mr. Alias can be used for serious music.

Do you like Green Beans too? by The Phylogenetic Harmoniums
Way cool song. Another one of my favorites. And of course I like green beans.

aliasalien by blortblort
Definitely a highlight of the competition for me. Some awesome sounds, and they keep changing so it stays interesting.

2nd prize:

Smooth Analog Warmth by AuthenticDan
Enjoyable, funny. I especially like the second part with the arpeggios.

liizaploop by SIGHUP
Crackly and annoying sounds. Very nice.

I got the Mucus in me by tattiemannie
Nice song. Makes me want to play an old video game, maybe the Mega Man series.

Aliasling by runagate
I'm guessing this would be unlistenable to some people, but it's right up my alley. I like the use of automation and the "explosion" sounds near the end.

3rd prize:

Deadliner by Jon Boyd
Catchy. Disqualified for the question mark in the forum post ("Deadline?").

Planet of the Slippermen by Aka
Surprisingly "normal" musical sounds here, so plus 100000 points. Almost sounds like a guitar. Also, it reminds me a little of The Residents, circa The Commercial Album (one of my favorites).

Sister Malias by RunBeerRun
Menacing, mind-numbing music for your enemies. I'm fond of this one.

rainbeaker by Batman Flower Flower
Very unsettling sounds under the chimes. Not bad.

4th prize:

MrA2 by djsubject
Only 9 seconds long, but can be played in a loop forever. Not very annoying as far as Mr. Alias music goes.

RG_IOY by Ja.x
Some interesting sounds in there. Nice mellow, yet creepy, tune.

alias bitch by datapark
Deduction of 7000000 points for putting reverb on Mr. Alias. I like it.

Mucus was my First Love by Tattiemannie
Cool bassline. Good drum sounds too. Perhaps a little too techno for me.

29th prize:

The Triumph of Our Souls in the Valley of Our Debts by AuthenticDan
Ridiculously long and irritating, really enhances the ambiguity of the seriousness of the contest. Even if this was a joke entry, it was obviously made with Mr. Alias, so it counts, unlike AuthenticDan's first joke entry.

Great. Ryu's and ghola1was' were my favourite ones. 4th for me? Wow!!! I want to thank to my agent, my personal trainer, my hair dresser, my dog and my neighbour of the big boobs.

Oh, and almost forgot: also to a guy (can't remember his name) who made two ridiculous synths :hihi: .

By the way, I'm becoming bald, don't have a dog but my neighbour is one, etc...

Hello Piz and everyone.

I am honored to be awarded such a great prize.
I contribute the prize money to the United Nations
and intend to have them make use for world peace.
Thank you.

And here I completely missed the only epic thread about one of my favorite synths ever.

wow. I'd just like to thank all the American Idol viewers that voted for me. Your warmth and support has been invaluable to me this season. It truly has been a trying but exciting journey for me...with such awesome competition, too!
...but...I cannot help but be a little jealous:

that's possibly the best "prize enhancement" ever

nothing, in fact i like reverb. it just happens to cost you 7 million points in this contest. but that doesn't matter, since the results weren't decided by points.

OK, I've sent some presets .... I'm on AOL so best you check your spam folder :hihi:

Cheers for a cool comp!

errr where's the zip file? Gimme a link?

EDIT... OK, I see the link ...

Post

aliasalien by blortblort was my favorite entry.

With a synth that has the word "pro" in it I just know that my music will sound more professional. I feel better about myself already. 8)

didn't get it yet... maybe it will arrive later, but if you feel like it i guess you could upload them somewhere.

i will be sending out Mr. Alias Pro in a few days... any presets i receive before then will be included. it doesn't matter if they're good or not. once loaded into the Pro version, they will automatically sound good.

No probs pizzy, but havin a slight prob with the ol' dedicated kvr hosting site at the mo, and its late this part of the planet, so catch you tomorrow, and I'm sure the site will have remembered who I am by then ... :)

I've uploaded the tracks into a folder though, and when the site decides to behave, I'll post a link.
